So the other day I went outside and my 2 front windows were rolled half way down. Long story short, I called the dealer and holding the unlock button on the FOB down for 5 seconds causes the windows to drop. I had a lot of things in my pocket and something pressed against the button.. Lucky no one stole my radio or GPS.

They said this feature was only available on the 2010 model.. Are they wrong? Just thought I'd share..

Enjoy the heat...

this works for my 03 coupe as well.. does anyone know if there is away to lock the doors and roll the windows up as well? I tried holding down the lock button but no dice.

I have an '09 V6 SE Coupe. It has that feature as well. Though I swear I have to be standing next to the damn thing or maybe 15 feet way with no obstruction to ever get the windows to roll down, as Im walking to my car on a hot day (hoping to get those few extra seconds of cooling into the car before I get in).

So yes your car does seem to be working like it's supposed to, but I'd be more careful about having stuff in your pocket that can push keys down. And no, not only limited to 2010 models, unless it was skipped over the Sedans until now.

EDIT: Nope I think someone has asked that question about rolling windows up, which I would love to have the ability to do as well, with the key FOB. Looks like that is something Nissan felt was unnecessary.....

I keep my FOB in a pocket all alone now.. Could have been a costly mistake. When I called the dealer they had to ask 4 different people before someone told me it was holding the FOB button down so I figured they were wrong when they said it was only on 2010 models.. Thanks

According to the dealer there is no way to roll the windows up via FOB

07s have it too... I think it has always been part of the convenience package, not sure though.

I would think that not enabling the fob to remotely roll windows up has more to do with liability than lack of forethought.
If you think about it, if junk in your pocket can inadvertently trigger the windows to roll down, then the same thing can happen to make them go up. What if a kid's arm or head is sticking out the window and the fob unintentionally rolls the windows up - not a pretty sight.

Beeristasty is correct about his assumptions on this. Many cars have this feature these days. It is common practice for manufacturers to not let you have the windows roll back up on a button. They do not want anyone to have the liability of being able to press a button and roll the windows up on a car that is out of their view where someone or something could get stuck in the window causing harm to a person/animal/thing or your car.

Actually - you can roll your windows back up from outside the car, but just not remotely.

If you take the key out of your fob and insert in the keyhole in the drivers door, rotate toward the locking side and hold it, it will roll your windows up.

I believe there is a federal mandate for power windows on cars model years 2000 or 2001 and newer that requires a torque control switch on the window motor. If it senses any resistance before the programmed traveling distance is complete (basically when the window is completely closed), it will cause the window to go back down. There would be a small bit of pressure on a limb in the window for a brief second before the switch activates. Wouldn't be enough pressure to cause injury.

Someone on the forum posted a link to a site that does a mod for the AC that allows you to remote open and close your windows and/or sunroof. You have to wire in a module though, and I don't feel like hacking into the wiring of my car for that just yet.

this feature actually goes back all the way to 2002, i had a 2002 altima which also had this function. I thought the fob was broken or there was some electrical problem lol but then i read about it online. My fathers 2002 maxima also has the same function, as well as my new 08 coupe. Just need to be careful about having alot of things in your pocket to prevent that.

Other than that i guess its a cool little feature to have on extremely hot days when you want vent the air really quick before you get into the car.
