i have an s13 sr20det in an s13 chassiswhen i am driving normally everything seems good, but when i go full throttle, right when boost comes on it seems to hold itself back. you can feel that the car is holding back as if there is no boost, althoguh the boost gauge reads 7psi. it only happens if i floor and right when i get to about 2500 rpmsalso it happened a couple days ago then i just let it go then it went away and now its back.could it be a slipping clutch, i don't really know what that feels like but i doubt it cuz it seems to hold fine and it only happens when boost comes on

please helpthanks,quang

It could very well be a slipping clutch.

if it were a slipping clutch then wouldn't it do it all the time... just drove the car back from the store and its gone... and besides as far as the clutch, it hadn't even seen any boost utnil 600 miles. and about 400 of the 600 was ALL city driving w/ as much shifting as i could do. i just threw the slipping thing in cuz i don't really know what that feels like, although i doubt thats what this is.

how would i check for a boost leak?

Are you sure its just completely random? Almost every problem I have ever heard of is constant or cause by something like high G loads or bumps in the road. The only other thing I can think of is maybe the actuator on the turbo is going bad (although this wouldnt make sense if your boosting normally).

Maybe your mind is playing games with you :poke

no i swear its not a trick... it doesn't make sense to me either, seems almost as if when complety warmed up it won't do it but when cold or if its the first drive of the day it will. i know its really weird, but its happening. It should happen all the time but it doesnt.i had a thought that maybe its cuz i use fully synthetic Mobil1 15w-50, maybe the thickness of the oil causes it. When its warm it gets a little thinner.. i dont know?

i had a 97 eagle talon tsi. it had problems with that, i would be running fine then hit second to race a little si or some slow car, and it would feel like i had no boost. i found out that my spark plug was somewhat loose and pressure went around it and pushed off the spark plug boot. but only under somewhat of boost, and usually only under a high load. but that was a dsm, so who knows what all was happening.

Sounds like a boost leak. A small one will rob you of power but not show up on your gauge. Remove and reinstall all connections just to be sure. It happened to me this week. Now I'm faster than I thought I was:D

Can't rev past 2500. Just happened one day after I was using my ac and driving normal. Everything seems to be connected right so I'm really not sure whats wrong. Just going to replace the MAFS and cross my fingers.
