Hey,

Do any of the Tech's out there (or anyone else) know if the "universal" 22mm/ 7/8 socket will fit without rounding off the nut? I have the universal socket, does anyone know where I can get a 22mm HO2 socket?

Thanks,

Stephen

Are you talking about the O2 sensor? The universal ones will be the right size for the O2 sensors and for the oil pressure sensor, but the taller sockets may not fit in the space available on one or both O2 sensors. I've had overall better luck with the shorter "crowfoot" socket. I think they're all called "universal" only because they fit on most sensors.

Yeah, that's actually what I have, a "crowfoot" socket - so it works without rounding off the connection, right?

Thanks,

Stephen

It shouldn't round off the sensor at all as long it sits properly and as you stick to the torque values given in the manual. Be careful with the oil pressure sensor if you ever remove that. I think it's a pipe thread (NPT), so you have to be careful to not overtighten when threading it into the aluminum block.

If you use a deep socket with a "slit" for the sensor wire, be careful. Watched a friend chew up his fingers holding one of those and using an air wrench.

Still has the scars. . .

You have to ask about "sensor sockets". They rarely give the size, since most manufacturers have standardized on one size; 22mm, hence universal sockets. I can almost guarantee Pep Boys and Autozone stock at least 1 kind, just maybe not the crow's foot type.http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/SP-88750.html

I found that Autozone will give you a set of HO2 sockes (3) if you put a $15 deposit. The guy at AZ said most people just keep the kit, which is OK with them
