I just put custom exhaust on my V...now an issue, my V has been PERFECT until today...

I turned the key the car turned over 5 times began to run for 3-5 seconds then just died.

Then I restarted it and it ran fine...I am not too worried but its never happened before, so...lets pose the question...anyone else have this issue?

Could it be not enough back pressure in the exhaust????

Oh yeah the car sounds great...just wishing I could get it as a 5 spd...as I did not care for the 6 speed...always seemed to be shifting...so yes mine is the 4 spd auto...

Cheers

My mother had an issue with hesitation during starting and poor turning over. I told her to take it to the dealership after I checked somethings and thought it was a fuel pump issue. Apparently it was and they replaced the fuel pump for free under warrenty. They also stated they have had a bunch of these issues with the Versa's.

Thanks guys

But this doesn't seem to be the same issue unless I misread the thread.

The car has done this once...started...ran for 5 seconds..then died...then when restarted it functioned/ran perfectly.

Our V has about 12,000 km's or 7400 miles...it was pretty hot about 25 degrees celcius...so it could be fuel pump or regulator issues...

My boss had a Maxima and his fuel pump had issues along with every van on the front row of the lot...

SO I GUESS ITS NOT RELATED TO AMOUNT OF BACK PRESSURE OR LACK THERE OF IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM...well thats a relief...I did not think the exhaust would create this type of a problem.

Off to the dealer I go on Tuesday...

unless you disconnected the exhaust at the manifold you should still have enough back pressure. there's people with 2.5" catback exhausts and they haven't posted about this issue. the fuel pump is probably the issue. post back and let us know what the dealer says.

The Versa goes to the dealer THursday night...it is getting harder to start everytime you turn it over.

Was out tonight and it turned over for 15 seconds before it started...never noticed it until we did the exhaust...now its freakin scary...is my little TILITY going to leave me stranded...well it gets 150 miles tomorrow...I'll keep everyone posted...

I just got my car back from the dealer this morning. After having a hard time starting it (cranking 5-6 times, maybe more) it would finally turn over, compared to when I got the car and it started first time every time.

Long story short the car had a problem with the fuel pressure and I was advised not to drive the car as it could suddenly and randomly stop running on me. From reading here this sounds like a similar problem although more extreme than I had. I took it to the dealer, told them my problem, told them from reading these forums it seems to be a known problem, they checked it out and sure enough...BINGO. so I got a rental car for 5-6 days and got my car back today.

on a side note....I HATE the new sentras...

It goes back next week cause the parts have to be ordered...

Got the Versa - Tility back from the dealer...they replaced the fuel regulator and seal...its located under the back seat...everything seems fine...car starts with no extra cranking and doesn't just die (quit running)...even feels like its got a little more giddy up but I think it may all be in my head...

Only question now is...will the NEW fuel pump and regulator last longer than the original? Did they fix the issue or just install another faulty pump hoping it will make it past the warranty period?

Only time will tell...
