Alright, so today I started my car to drive somewhere, and it started just fine. After a 20 minute drive, I arrived to a store. 15 minutes later, I returned to my car, and started it. . . And nothing. . . Everything in the car worked, such as the radio, windows, dash lights, head lights, etc.

When I turn the key, you hear nothing. . . The weird thing that I noticed was the aftermarket Compustar 2-way alarm not acting properly... When locking/unlocking the car with the keyless entry feature, the speaker in the engine bay made no chirping sounds, and the lights didn't flash (and the blue LED wasn't flashing when the car was locked).

So at first I thought it would be the battery, so I went to the store and asked them if they had a battery boosting machine. They came out and hooked it all up, and then I tried starting it. . . And still nothing.

The store was closing in 5 minutes, and they wanted to ditch me, and then I suggested the pushing method (with standard cars). So they decided to give it a shot. They started pushing the car, and then I slowly started dumping the clutch in gear 2 while giving some throttle, and then the car started slowing down (like I was applying brakes). We done this in 1st and 2nd gear for about 5 times, and nothing. . .

Right before the guys were about to leave, one of them suggested to try starting the car. So I did, and guess what. . . It started (but very very very poorly). . .

So, I am asking for some help on what to check. I'll be replacing the battery tomorrow, but it might not be the battery (or it might be, since the alarm isn't working properly). I will also check all the fuses, but is there anything else I should check for?

Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Double P.S. : The alarm system is almost a year old, so I don't see why s*** should start happening now? And after arriving home and shutting the car off, I tried starting it, and it struggled, then died. . . So yea. . . :frown:

Well it tried to turn over 2 or so times, but then it died. Now it does nothing. And no, I can't hear anything.

Thanks for all the quick replies guys. I don't know tho, it can't be the fuel pump because I don't hear anything coming from the back of the car.

It might be the fuse of the alarm system tho... I'll have to look into that.

Well if the fuel pump is working then you SHOULD hear something from the back of the car. With the car off open your door and turn the key to the ON position. You should hear a clicky motory noise coming from the back, the fuel pump turns on a second before you turn the key to get fuel in the lines when you go to start it. If you turn the key and hear nthing it may be the problem indeed.

Another thing i would check is the starter, mine went once and had no warnings just didn't start all of a sudden. Just hit the starter with a stick while someone is turning the key (or like i had to do a couple times as i didnt fix it for awhile, hit with stick, get in and try, hit with stick, get in and try, etc.) If it is the starter it should turn over and start. Hope you get it fixed man you just made it look all better.

Argh, I really don't want it to be the fuel pump tho. . . Isn't it very hard to do? And dont shops charge like $500.00+??

no its not that hard, do a search on this site and they will show you.
just make sure you don't have a full tank of gas but not a empty one either. and don't have any type of open flame going, since you have to put your arm down to get it.
oh yea might as well get a z32 fuel filter also.

Thanks a lot for all the input guys! By the way, today when I woke up, I went directly to the car and started it(and it worked perfectly). . . So I shut it off and started it again and it started perfectly. . . I did this about 5 times, and then decided that it must be the damn alarm. . . I think I'll drive it down to best buy, and get those sons of bishez to check the problem (cause the alarm chirping noise is still not working, and the LED light doesn't flash when the car is locked). . .

Alright, I figured out the problem. The reason the alarm wasn't working properly was because the stupid alarm was set in valet mode (I have no idea how it got there, but ok...). Next, the fuel pump is working, when I start the car you can hear it turn on for a second (I never really heard it because it's pretty quiet). Anyways, a few minutes ago, the car stopped working again, so I went underneath the car, and hit the starter solenoid and guess what, it started. . . So the culprit in all this is the starter.

By the way, can someone give me a detailed walk through on how to remove the starter? And if you have some useful personal tips (on removing the top bolt), can you share it with me? Help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I would like to thank everyone for giving very useful information. You guys are the best.

By the way, are these the bolts that I need to take off for the starter?

10 min. 2 bolts hold it on. 14mm or 17 i forget... then just unhook a plug and a wire connected to it. then everything in reverse with new starter

and get swivel socket and some extentions from bottom of car.
