hmm. Light weight flywheel and crank pully?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

Ok, Im changing my clutch now and I have light weight flywheel that I think weighs 12 lbs. So I was reading up on light weight flywheels and it says it unbalances the crank, is that true? What would be the concequences if it does unbalance it?
I was also thinking that I want it to rev up faster, so if I got a light weight crank pull would I be able to notice it rev faster? Would that balance out the crank more if I had the combination of the pully and the flywheel?
And I searched but the nico search sucks, so dont yell at me.

I mean The theory on lighten flywheels are as follows.

Stock flywheel will stay in the powerband cuz it revs down slower.

Lightened flywheel will rev faster but also drop revs alot faster.

Lightening the crank pulley will make the rotating mass smaller and will spin easier.

I'm sure a perfectly balanced motor will run smoother, but a motor with lightened parts wont run like crap either.

Yeah thats what I thought. Im thinking since I already have the flywheel I should just go all out and make the fastest reving ka eva, then when I slap on a turbo it will spool super fast.

An unbalanced crank/rotating assembly can and will cause premature bearing failure and crank walk. my .02 :ohno:

but many use lightened flywheels w/ no problems, as I'm sure the vibration dampner on the stock crank helps to keep things smooth.

Keep the stock crank pulley, it keeps things from vibrating to hell and damaging your insides
If you want aftermarket, ATI makes a harmonic dampener but it isn't for lightness.

I've had lightweight flywheel and lightweight pulley without a problem for years.

Do you guys track or drift your cars?
And how noticable is it over stock?

Daily drive, but I have tracked it.
When I put the pulley on years ago on the stock engine, it was very noticable. Felt like a new car.
