Saw one in the classifieds for 800 bucks. http://www.autotrader.com/deal...st=25

Deciding whether or not I should buy it. The high mileage is kind of a turn off but I NEVER see 810's for sale around here...and I guess I should expect that for a car that age.

What do you guys think? Should I get it or pass and wait for something better to come along?

dude!

I love those cars...don't see them often.

it's got a 280ZX drivetrain...if you've got the money, buy it.

it'll make for an amusing project....like an L28et swap.

well, look it over for rust and such and make an educated buy, unlike me. I'd giggle about day dreams with a boosted four door rwd Max all the way to the bank...I'm not really sure how much is involved in swapping to a 5 speed on one of those, but it's been done.

I'll probably take a trip to Tampa next weekend to check it out.

all the way from Kansas?

that seems a bit extreme for it honestly...I'll assume you've got more reasons to go there than an old rwd Max

Hahaha I don't live in Kansas. I'm in FL.

I also saw two S12s for sale. Hopefully I can check those out in Jacksonville if time permits.

810's are pretty cool old school Datsuns. Don't see many of those around anymore. Post up some pics and let us know how it is.

LOL yes! I'm a big fan of sleeper cars, and there couldn't possibly be a better one out there than a 810! I had seriously contemplated picking one up and having my way with it, but since I got married I can't "play" as much with stuff like that. If I was still single, I'd be trolling for a cheap, straight, clean 810 to drop a 1 or 2JZ into....plenty of room once you pull out the L28 Nobody would see ya comin heheh.

I've thought about selling my current station wagon to do a project like this...still need a family car

Well as much as I want that 810, I can't buy it right now. Obtaining a laptop for college is a bit more important.

Sad yes, but maybe another one will come along...hopefully.

BTW if anyone's interested, there's one for sale in PA for $695 iirc. It's on autotrader.

I don't know how I missed this thread. That "810" is really a Maxima using the carried over 810 name which they eventually dropped. Nissan's model designation for that car is actually '910'. The real 810's are the 77-79 models like the one I own. 79 was the only year they made a 2dr. hardtop. It doesn't have a 'ZX' drivetrain though it's similar. It has a L24E engine which is basically an upgrade L24 with a front sump oil pan like the Skyline and other non USA 6 cylinder sedans. It's not really a Z engine and you can't interchange engines between Z's and 810's or RWD Maximas without some machine work on the bottom end and a change of oil pan and pickup. Here's a couple shots of a real 810 (my daily driver):

I still want one.

oh crap...I never paid enough attention to realize you had a 320 until I saw a familiar front end in your garage.

I hope you have a gratuitous amount of pictures

The 810 is my daily driver. I take my wife to lunch every Wednesday in the Z and also drive it to an occaisonal car show or just take it out for a run now and then. The 320 goes to an occaisonal car show or I might just take it out on a weekend for a drive every once in a while but it gets driven the least as it's the least comfortable of the three to drive.

I've actually gotten to see a 320 in person...I can't imagine me ever driving one...or a 521. I think a 620 King however....I could rock that...

I think I might try to find a 720 King cab 4x4 this winter or spring though..I need a truck to do stupid truck activities in...like driving through the woods.

the Civic or S12 just don't cut it for that.
