Ok people, it's time to lift my car.

Car:

I want to raise it one or two inches so that I can fit a larger tire on the stock wheel. Recommendations?

Also, is this something I can do without a lot of specialized tools and having never done it before.

2" AC lift (4x4parts.com). Nice lift & allows for bigger tires. I did the work myself in a friends garage (cause I don't have one) & it took me all of 2 hours to change the coils, struts & springs.

Is what I got & run. Don't get the Rancho struts, they don't fit quite right. While you're at it you might want to go a head & get Warn Manual Hubs & I went a head & got new polymer bushings for the rear control arms, cause they were wearing out but it's hard to find people to press those in.

I have

* Four Coils (Coils are powder coated black and can be installed by owner)* GR-2 Front Struts* Rancho RS9000XL Rear Shocks* Strut Tower Mounts

The ride is so much nicer than stock. OEM Strut tower mounts are supposed to be better than the ac ones. After my springs settled a bit after 2 months I added a 1 inch spacer on top of strut. rides level now. Arm yourself with a high quality coil spring compressor and spray nuts and bolts with penetrating oil for a week before install and you should have no problem. X2 for manual hubs

Depending on your mileage your strut mounts should be fine. On the later model r50s like my 02 they redesigned the strut mount so that the hole that the strut shaft goes through is about 1 inch thick vs the older style mounts where its like an 1/4" thick. From abuse the D shaped hole will round out then you're screwed. I think thats why nissan fixed it. Save you about 80 bucks if you reuse the stockers.

96-99 The stut mount is different & thats where the "not fitting good" comes into play.
