May someone please explain the different type of numbers for the HKS turbo kits? Is it just the type of turbo they use, along with the trim? Whats the scoop

I see... thanks. What is "flange type?" Is that how big the outlet is on the turbo? I am currently looking at the 3037... shooting for 350-400WHP (400 being the max... prolly looking at 350). This is going to be mainly a road race car. I have no experience with turbo'd cars, and thus do not know much about em, sorry.

I believe the 3037 uses a T3 flange, that is why the GT25XX's are so popular because they use the same flange as our T25/T28's.

so is the GT25 bigger than the T28 or T25? i wish someone would make a sticky about turbo sizes and general turbo info...

oh and if the turbo is bigger than a T3, and uses a T4 flange or whatever, does that mean that i'd need a new manifold or just a new flange?

The kit is the GT... and the GT25 uses a T25 tu-ra-bo I believe. But dont the (full) HKS kits come with a manifold as well... so who cares what type of flange the SR is comptable with? Correct me if I am wrong.

O yea, for turbo size information (Garrett family), check out Greddy's website. I am pretty sure they have it on there.

I believe the kit you are talking about does not clear the steering column.

No, it uses a T25 flange as well.

I'm assuming they're not as popular because they're not offered w/ internal wastegate and/or may be too big to fit in the stock location.

I also think alot of people are afraid it won't spool soon enough for them.

yea it uses a t25 flange but that would only make it spool FASTER.......due to the smaller flange, unless of course u mean the turbo......that thing would take a week to spool up fully on a 4 cyl.....thats 4 sure

The 3037 take a week to spool up on a 4 cyl? I think not.

Especially not if we're talking about the KA. I spooled the bastard on 3 cylinders before 4000.

were talkin SR.....hence the RWD SR forum.......and that monster SHOULD take forever to spool....especially considering its on a T-25 flange....4000 is high for a small flange like the t-25......for example my buddy has a T-88H on his fully built 2JZ-GTE (supra) and the thing takes till 5800RPM to spool to full boost (2.5Bar) (PS we're talking NO NOS)

Being a T25 flange and having such a small turbine (coupled with the .61 A/R), it shouldn't be that bad. And....notice I said a KA only running on 3 cylinders.

What does a T88 have to do w/ a GT3037? HUGE difference.

You think the flange is going to make a turbo take forever to spool? I think you're confusing housings with flanges.

I'm planning on using the 3037 and it does indeed use a T25 flange. The best way to mount it is by using a top mount setup so that you can clear the obvious obsticals from the stock location. The problem is that there are, to my knowledge anyway, currently no top mount manifolds with a T25 flange. One is being constructed by a canadian company and i plan to pick one up and just mount the stock turbo on it until i get the HKS turbo...and lag is only really an issue in first, you say it doesn't spool until 4000? Well last time i check when changing gears she doesn't go below that...plus too much power at too low rpms always causes traction problems...

If you ask full-race to make you their top-mount manifold with a t2 flange, I'm sure they'll comply.

Besides, even if no manufacturer would do that for you, you can always have a macnine shope remove the t3 flange and replace it with a t2 flange.

I've got a KA top mount manifold I'll sell you with a T25 flange. I'm sure that a skilled fabricator can cut the KA head flange off and adapt an SR one to fit with little/no problem. I can get you pics if you want. Let me know: [email protected] or AIM: cnichols240

upgrade cams would help that lag.
