Well im looking at going ahead and putting some cams in since the heads gonna be off. But I have a few questions. Im looking at the HKS Step 1 cams but dont know which size to go with. The turbo Im using is the GT2871r .64. Also I want to know if these will run properly with out an ECU tune. Im eventually going to get tuned with new injectors during summer. So I also want to know if these cams will function right with the stock ecu?

you really should not run any larger cams w/o a tune.

I would highly recommend you read the camshaft mega thread...all of it zerothread/210484Thats what i did before i chose my cams.

i would suggest maybe a 256/264 combo with a 2871. It all depends what you are going to do with the car, cams change your powerband alot. if your drifting you need torque to come in sooner, so you use a shorter duration. whereas if your drag racing you want maximum high end power so you would go with a longer duration and higher lift. You should also match your cams to your turbo, if your dragging you dont want to slam a 272 in with your t25 just because your drag racing.

this is all explained in the mega thread, do your research, deside what you will be doing with the car and chose your cams.

I have been reading a little so far and I read that these cams are ok to drive with out a tune. They wont perform to their max but Im not looking for that untill summer time really.

Thanks for you opinion. Anyone else got some info or real world experience?

And ill take a look at that thread
