Has anyone tried this out? Would it have any advantages over the K&N filter?

I'm tempted to order it, and try it out..

Anyone have any thoughts/comments on this thing?

3 words: hot underhood air. :(

23 more words: Do you really trust a mushroom-shaped piece of foam to protect your engine from the dust and grit of the AZ desert?

If it's even 1% better then the JWT, then yes.. That's what is on the car now...

Besides you and also several other nico members have created heat shielding, which gives a route for the hot air to escape out of the hood...

I had one of those, on my old Camaro, in the early 80's. It looked cool, under he hood, but was cheap & a PITA to clean. It caught fire, when I was doing some tuning. I had a backfire, and it burst into flames.

I went out and bought a K&N Filter, and a MOROSO Air Cleaner.

Much better.

I would pass. You would have to clean it every weekend.

HKS power flow, great for my Briggs & Stratton, horrible for my Q.

8 words with respect to the JWT POP:

It's not that freakin hot while in motion.

But it sure is hotter than 11F added under a Q'hood even at 150 mph.

Cone filters without cool air ducting is number #1 cause of idling and traffic problems in Summer..........tremendous heat=pinging and severe acceleration problems after hot soak.

The MAF goes crazy when it sees air above 120F.
