Took it to my buddie's dad's shop, where he works on semi's. Giant heated shop, 50 ft long drive-over pit.

The car was from Texas so there was no trouble getting the old exhaust off.

Ran the car with open exhaust over the pit just to see what it would sound like. OMG :) When Hot Rod Super-Nationals come to town we always unbolt our exhausts... it sounds so nuts on the KA.

The whole install took about 45 minutes, very very easy. Good fit and finish, I have no complaints at all.

First impressions: very deep, sounds like my z did at idle, nice and smooth through the lower rev range, not loud unless you punch it, and racy at the top end. Pretty loud when downshifting, but you can just cruise at static rpms and it sounds almost stock.

Not sure about the power gains yet as it is rainy and cold out, so I was spinning all over, but it does seem a bit nicer in the midrange response wise.

I'll give it a good test when it dries up.

i love my hks hyper to. It was probably one the best performance mods i have done on my car. I like it even more then the n1, because of the black piping, and bigger piping..

the Hiper is an amazing exhaust. seems like everyone is buying this exhaust now. i can see why. my impressions on the exhaust are the exact same as s14zilvia. its not to loud except it is a little when you punch it, and has an awesome sound at the lower RPM range. i felt a nice gain. it compliments the intake well

I'm still buying an Apexi N1 dual, but the Hiper certainly seems like a great system. Congrats. :)

How big are the pipes on the HKS? The pipes on the N1 dual are powder coated grey/black.... plus stainless-steel canisters.... LOVE IT!!

But seriously, the N1 uses 3" pipes..... since a cat-back is one of the 'best' performance mods you've made, then I am assuming you are N/A.... why would pipes that are 'bigger' than 3" be a good thing?

That confused me too. I believe the pipes on the hiper are 65mm in the NA application, 3 inch is around 70mm.

there are 2 versions of the N1 exhaust. Turbo application with 3" piping, and NA verion with about 2 3/4" piping i believe. both of those are two large to be an ideal exhaust for an NA 240. about 2 1/2" piping is the ideal size for NA 240, which is the size of the Hiper pipes

Back pressure it not necessarly wanted on an N/A setup. And the sizes of the N1 are fine for both turbo, and N/A applications. I went with the N1 dual because it works well with both N/A and Turbo applications. This guy at my work who used to be a mechanic, he also used to build race motors, told me that even with a N/A car a 3inch exhaust is ideal, with no cats. I can't remember his exact reason, But I will find out on monday and let you guys know. Anyway congrats on the exhaust

its low. my car has sportlines, so i'm cuttin it close on alot of speed bumps (which i try to avoid). but i haven't hit anything yet. dcmetro240, 3in. piping is far from "ideal" on an NA car. you loose alot of low end. with no cats, and 3in. piping, sure, you're going to be mean in the higher RPM's, but why put HUGE piping on the car, just so it can be load and obnoxious? the only time 3in. pipes would help an NA 240 is in the high RPM's, which most people don't drive at all the time, i'm pretty sure. a turbo, yea, 3in is "ideal", because you have that much more exhaust to get rid of. but you dont' have that much exhaust to extract in an NA version car.

i'm pretty sure i'm right on this. i've heard it everywhere from 240 owners. most of it here on the boards. if i'm wrong, i was mis-imformed, so don't think i'm a moron :)

ok, i was right. i found this statement by Lost_to_a_K-car ""Bigger" does not equal "better flow".

As you increase the diameter of the piping, velocity is going to decrease. This will in turn decrease scavenging action at the exhaust port on the head, reducing performance.

For a NA four cylinder car, 2.25" piping is all you need."

Yes.

They failed to tell me it was out of stock, and called me a week after I ordered it to inform me it was bock in stock (wtf?)

But I got it in about 2 weeks total and had no problems. Worth it for 460 shipped.

95silviase, I hear what your saying and I could have missunderstood my friend, like I said I will ask him tomorrow what he was talking about. But why does the N1 dual perform so well on a N/A car and it has 3 inch piping which then splits into 2 pipes, each 2.5inchs?

well hks also make 2 differnt versions of the exhuast. They make a hyper titanium that has 3 inch diamiter piping, to go along with the n1 with its 3 inch piping. but if you get the na version the hyper has 65 mil piping, and the n1 has 60 mil piping, but from what i have hear the n1 uses less bends then the n1. That is what i was told by a coupld of local shops, and i went with the hyper also because it was cheaper shipping. N1 is one piece, and expensive as hell to ship. Sorry if any info is wrong......
