i have this setup on a car.... std engine, ported & polished head, custom exhaust manifold, 3 inch dpipe & exhaust, fmic , hks gt2530 w/t3 exhaust flange , mines vx rom std cam timing& std ignition timing, boost set to 13lbs the question is .. I get full boost at 4000 is there something wrong? is there any way to get it to spool up any quicker??the exhaust housing has a t3 flange & .64 a/r If i swap to a .64 a/r with a t25 flange may i get faster spool up???thx a lot for your help

The answer to your spooling question is "No"! The CA18DET does not produce enough CFM to get that turbo with that A/R to spool any faster. Besides that, 4000rpm spool-up is normal with the CA and any T3 based turbo. Unfortunately, if you want the turbo to spool-up any faster than that, you'll have to either raise the compression which isn't worth the gains or simply look at another hairdryer. How fast are you looking for full boost?

how big is ur intercooler piping going from turbo to fmic hen from fmic to TB? keeping it smaller will induce a little quicker spool, if u have external waste gate and a electronic boost controller play with those a bit! ur biggext helper will be cams! 270's u have port and polished head now u juest need the cams! but other then that not much else can be done other then stroker kit or 84mm pistons!

I'm running a GT2540 (440hp) on my CA18det.

I get solid boost after about 4500rpm too. It's ok..but not good.

Mine's got the T25 0.86 turbine housing. I've been told that going for the T25 0.64 (from 400hp model) exhaust housing will bring boost almost 1000rpm earlier.

I think the T3 flange is one of your biggest problems, but it may be that your intake piping/intercooler is just too large. You don't say much about that, so it's hard for others to comment without seeing it.

Cheers,Chris

piping is 2.5 inch diameter from turbo to throttle, and the intercooler is about 24 inch core with 2.5 inch mouths. about the gasket, i know all this makes sell them but which store or web page sells them, i live in peru so if i buy one it would have to be by mail order

thx alot

im geting similar problem with my ca18 on ssauto intercooler ( 3 inch end tanks) 2 1/2 inch hotpipe and 2 3/4 coldpipe stock throttle body, ssauto manifold and 02 dump, 75mm exhaust and downpipe hks gt2510 turbo on stock boost. i hit full boost arround 3900 rpm. and im pretty sure the interooler is 505 of the reason why thats happening. any input?
