I just bought an HKS GT2530 for my RB25DET S13. Is this turbo any better than the stock unit?(other than the steel wheels which is why i bought it) I made 272whp and ran 12.5 1/4 mostly stock with the stock turbo. Im trying to figure out if i need to buy injector or do much retuning before i install it. Should I expect a hp gain or any turbo lag. I know this turbo is rated at 320ps which is 315.7hp. Are they underrated? I was making more flywheel power than that stock at 10-12 psi. I can't see that HKS would sell the turbo as an upgrade if they were less capable than the stock turbo. The 2510 is sold as an upgrade and that is even smaller. I also heard that HKS turbos perform better at higher boost levels and im wondering how much pressure to run. Thanks for any input.

the 2530 is a good upgrade on a rb25 but you do need to run a bit more boost to get the most out of it.usualy ppl run 20psi or so on that turbo to get the 320whp bit.

that doesn't seem right. My RB25 just dynoed at 300whp 235TQ with the stock turbo at 12psi. only mods are greddy intake/Q45 TB, front mount, & full 3" exhaust

EDIT: 250sxGTST, want to sell me your stock turbo?

Those numbers seem awfully odd for stock turbo at 12psi...what kinda dyno was it, and do you have a graph?

im expecting right around 300whp with the stock turbo at 12psi. seems very realistic imo.

300whp on 12psi is VERY optimistic on an otherwise stock rb25.on a dynojet perhaps, but on a dyno dynamics or mustang dyno no way.my stock rb20 pulled 230whp at 10psi on a dynojet, ive heard of rb25's pulling 250-260 on the same boost but 2 psi more and gaining 50hp thats a bit much.

I have a graph, but no easy way to get it on the internet since the dyno computer only has a floppy drive and my computer has no floppy drive. oh yeah, and it was a dynojet

About the turbo, $500 is a little much. I was thinking $200, let me know I need one asap. thanks

what do you consider, "an otherwise stock rb25"?

what do you think would be needed to get to 300whp @ 12psi on the stock turbo? (on a 25 mind you) just curious.

hks gt2530 being installed on my car right now. I tried to do it myself, but needed custom water lines and I didn't want to spring for the kit. lol

I'll try to remember to give some feedback once I get my car back. Im using stock actuator BTW. I'm also running a rb20det.

stock, just as the word implies.stock turbo, smic, stock injectors and management.300whp might be doable with a safc and a front mount and exhaust, but then you run the risk of the turbo taking a crap.

i have the following going onto my 25:

-Custom radiator w/ fan.-Greddy VSPL front mount intercooler.-Greddy sidemount intake manifold.-Greddy timing belt.-Tial blow off valve.-APEXi N1 Dual tip 3" catback exhaust.-APEXi power FC and commander.-APEXi AVC-R electronic boost controller.-APEXi turbo timer -RPS 6 puck sprung clutch. rated to 520 lb/ft of torque.-Fidanza 10.34lb flywheel. -Walbro 255 fuel pump.-OEM nissan RB water pump.-Infiniti Q45 throttle body. -Infiniti Q45 MAFS.

along with a few other things. but with the PFC tuned at 12 psi, im hoping for 300 on the dot. but i guess thats not quite stock, eh?

i know you are proud of a greddy timing belt, clutch, fuel pump, oem water pump, etc. but they're not really power adders, they're support mods.

Its good to see the US dyno's are inline with the AUS dyno's.Being an Rb25DET @ 12psi generally see's around the 272rwhp mark here also.

300rwhp on 12psi is most definitely a happy dyno, no ifs no buts.

I have seen close ~290rwhp on 14psi with an adj. cam gear, 98ron fuel + toluene running lots of ign, but the turbo didn't last long.

The benefit of the hks gt2530 is the mid range. Sure peak power may only rise 40hp or so but the mid range improvement is massive.Which makes for a very fun car to drive.
