i am hopefully be upgrading soon and i was wondering what you guys think about the 2 kits phase2 has

first the hks gt-rs: http://www.store.yahoo.com/pha....html

or the gt28 kit:http://www.store.yahoo.com/pha....html

i am also wondering if the hks turbo is a top or bottom mount. i'm looking for 350hp and up. gonna have nismo 740cc's, emanage, z32mafs. i'm kinda trying to avoid having my ecu retuned if possiable...

let me know what you all think plus any experiances with these kits

The HKS kit is bottom mount (in the stock location).

If your using E-manage you shouldn't have to have your ECU retuned, as its perfectly capable of running up to 900cc+ injectors off the stock ECU.

u shouldnt use a piggy back system for injectors that big just get the ecu tuned and use the e-manage for fine tuning

i agree as ecms start getting really wierd when the piggyback starts adjusting more than about 10%.

i like the gt2871r personally. comes with adjustable wastegate actuator and everything. the hks gt-rs is nice but i like straight garrett stuff more than the "customized" garrett stuff. still, im sure most anything hks sells is good.

i just looked at the gtrs again(its been a while) and realized the turbine is the same while the compressor is almost the same(just a difference of wheel trim option).

have you your self done this? and if so how cause i would kinda like to go this route. however, as turbo and chris said things get "weird" and it may be easier to jsut get a retune......

i didn't even realize this while i was reading about the 2. but i have a question. if the 2 are almost identical why is the gt28 rated at a max hp of 340rwhp while they claim the hks turbo can be taken up to 400rwhp? is it jsut a more efficent design?

garret and hks.....(usually all turbo manus) are very conservative when it comes to their turbos. For example, on my supra, I have an hks t04r turbo kit that is rated at around 600-650whp. Im making mid 700s with it. You can more than likely get around 400hp out of both the turbos you are looking at. Ive seen gt2871r turbos hit 400+. The HKS on the other hand, Ive never been around a car with that turbo. Sorry im no help there.

the hks turbine is the same as the smaller of the two available gt2871 turbines. its the .64 a/r. the gt2871r with the .86 a/r should make 400whp without drama.
