I could probably post this somewhere else, but I tend not to like to venture into the "other" forums, like the SR20 forum. So I'll post it where I'm welcome :)

I plan on doing some engine work before I get into the exterior, I wanted to know if the HKS FMIC Type-S Kit will fit the stock 93 240sx front bumper, and in the future, will it fit the S13 K's Silvia bumper? THANKS!!!!

you have to cut into the bumper support and cover to fit it and they don't allow the core to be exposed that much, I would reccomend an aftermarket bumper to really open up the intercooler to the air. Why would you say you are not welcome in the SR forum?

no, it's not that I'm not welcome, I just don't want to go over there, no offense to anyone, but the stupidity lingers, it's so think ou can cut it with a knife :)

BTW, for a first intercooler, would it just be better for me to get a custom FMIC? one that's smaller, and mor eimportantly, cheaper? I don't plan on making large amount of horsepower till be aero parts are on, so I could just get a larger FMIC then,

I wouldn't advocate buying a "good enough" intercooler now. If you know you are going to need a bigger chill at a later date you might as well get it now or hold off until you can get it.

I was just thinking of getting a shorter, but still as wide, Spearco core, with custom piping. Then at a later date, get the HKS. The thing is, I think I'm getting a K-Style front bumper, shop it a little, so the HKS will fit nicely. But before then, I'll have my OE S13 bumper,

How efficient is the stock SMIC? Will it support the maximum boost on the OE T25? If it'll support 14psi, then I'm fine, I don't plan on going over 220hp or so on Stage-II, stage-3 is new turbo, but Stage-3 is after my aero parts, so I'll just hold off on the FMIC till a later date, THANKS!!!

the CA one is crap. It's bareley able to cope with stock boost as far as decent cooling and minimum pressure drop.

so what about a OE SR20 SMIC? or a Spearco FMIC Core?

I have an ARC replacement SR-type side mount in the wife's 180SX and I am not raving about it. The SR is a little better but not by a whole heck of a lot. If you get a big Spearco you won't need an HKS at all.

I'm trying to cut costs for the time being, I want the HKS Kit right now, but since the wallet says no to changing the aero and other front-end mods. I just need something to hold me over, 220hp is fine for a year and a half or so, till everything on the exterior, interior, and suspension is done. Then I'm gonna get into the engine,

Hey what about a FMIC off of a Mitsubishi Starion? I know those are pretty easy to find in Junkyards (like all DSM's :-D) and are pretty cheap.. I would imagine that they would go to 12psi or so without much problems...

are there any side mounted intercoolers i could get for cheap (ie couple hundred bucks) to hold me over? i wanna have a different intercooler for the summer when I am away from home. just something that is better than stock that will hold reasonably well for at least a few months. thanks!
