What would be the advantages and disadvantages of using this for tuning on the ca?

You might try to get a hold of themadscientist. I think he's got one.

I would do Megasquirt again before that, or stay really simple: you can have a netbook and emulator running your car on a chipped ecu for way cheaper. I guess the hks may have more tunability, but don't you have to have a software set that is almost as expensive as the hardware to tune it? I love having a wideband and the ability to tweak things on the go.

Negative. The CA18DET uses the NP-12 harness, the CA18ET uses the NP-4 one. The NP-4 plugs into L20 and L28s with the ECCS system.

The CA18 uses the following four chips;E683 NormalE684 Full turbine kit with intercooler. The kit turbo was a 50 trim T4E686 T-3 turboE683V Normal turbo and VPC

The CA18ET ROM chip is the E104. This chip is also used on the Z18ET.

Enough of the history lesson, this gear is ancient and best left on display, not actually running an engine.
