FConV's are only tunable with the proper software. I do believe this software is only available in Japanese, and also only attainable in Japan.

I researched this about a month ago. The FConV was discontinued even in Japan, so getting any support for them is extremely unlikely. I called HKS and they said that it wasn't a very good idea for us stateside SR guys. They are tuned for Japanese gas, which is much higher octane rating, and that could really hurt your performance and engine. it is a mystery box tuned for criteria different than yours, almost impossible for us to reprogram, and there is no way to read what is in it. you'd be better off with the ol' SAFC.

Japanese gas is not higher in octane, they just use a different rating system.

Thanks for clearing that up Jeff. I guess whateverhisnamewas at HKS was wrong about that part. As usual, it's really nice to see you posting in NICO. Sorry to jack the thread a bit, but speaking of gas, I just run the 91 octane premium up here (90 in the winter like now) but have heard adding a few gallons of the pump race gas can help against detonation, not that I have any. Is 90-91 octane alone ok for me pushing 13psi?
