Don't worry about a new header unless yours is janky. If so, just put a stock exhaust manifold and downpip back on and then save your money for a turbo project or an engine swap.

Headers don't do anything on a KA except move your powerband around.

Many (myself included ) run them for years with no real problems at all except for some possible fitment issues. If the header is already on the car, no biggie.

The point is that a KA header isn't something that you should aspire to get. It's something that you waste your money on because you didn't know better.

Yeah... I get the WRX comparison alot. Sounds like it's running on 3 cylinders to me though...

I got that a lot too when my car ran. I suppose it matters on the diameter of the exhaust and what kind of tip you got. straight pipes make it REALLY sound like a Subaru. Except 240s tend to shoot flames when you let off the gas with straight pipes..

are headers found in a junk yard any good? anything I would have to look out for?

The previous owner did some ghetto setup so the O2 sensor doesnt fit and that might be why my car is having so much problem

sorry to hijack the thread lol

I rock the CS exhaust... 3 inch diameter, resonated w/ dual tips. Nice & deep while still being quiet and discreet.

OEM exhaust manifolds should be fine... but you gotta inspect them yourself. You never know.

If I saw an aftermarket header at the junkyard, I'd leave that chit there. It's junk and thats where it belongs.

hopefully if i do get the exhaust it sounds good with the header

I have a pace setter header with a hks hi-power. sounds like garbage. WAY to loud and raspy.

missing? nah. I never got that impression from my header. Just a deeper tone, and a bit more of a lumpy cam sound if you reeeeeeally listen, but not as though its misfiring. I've heard subies with exhaust work in person a couple times, and the cam/unequal length header sound was much more prominent.

although, maybe the idle is a bit off cause i need a new O2 sensor. ha.

also, not a BIT of rasp. just deep and mellow. really nice compressed low end sound when you let off the gas while in gear. A bit more mid-rangey when giving it the beans.
