This is a thread for those of us with the HKS cast low mount manifold to share ideas & info... Please reply with info such as what turbos you're using, what mount kit, oil/water lines info, downpipe/wg dump info & other details that you think are useful. I know a couple of you guys are using this manifold and I'm sure many others have considered using it or are searching for info on it online...

Some info I have learned researching this manifold... The manifold itself was sold in the "HKS T45S Kit" which included a HKS T45S turbo, HKS wg and the manifold.

Stainless lines info:You'll need a m12x1.25 for your oil feed and a m14x1.5 fitting for your water feed. The oil drain port is a 3/4 BSP port on the block and takes a 21mm hose re-using the stock fitting. I'll post up my line pictures later.

If you're a proud owner/user of this manifold, please put a reply with some basic info:

Motor: RB20DETMounts: R32 xmember + nismo mountsTurbo: T3/T04E .60 A/ROil/Water Lines: Custom braided lines, AN4 oil and AN6 water. Lengths and pics laterWG: HKS standard WGDP: Custom 3"Turbo inlet: custom 3"FMIC: Same side in/out, modified pipes

My question for other HKS mani users -- WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR OIL DRAIN? I tried to use the Function7 AN-10 fitting with a AN-10 to NPT 3/4 adapter and re-use part of the stock oil drain hose. Turns out the comp housing bolts hit on the AN fitting so now I'm going to try to modify the stock RB20 oil drain to work. I would really like to know what others have done!

my oil drain kinda sucks...but it works...basically a drain plate with a 45* pipe fitting which goes to a hose fitting and a piece of 45* heater hose to the block.its a tight fit for sure and is never fun trying to get it off in the car.

only pics i have of the drain.

^ Thanks. I did something very similar, but I'm going to re-do it.

I'm sure HKS sold this manifold in a kit with a turbo and I would have to think they included new drain to use?

At this point I'm planning to modify the stock drain pipe. It needs to bend back towards the firewall then back towards the block, plus be shortened a little...

stock drain wouldnt work with my gt turbo.i assume that the kit was designed for a smaller t3 turbo than what most of us slap on it...it is kinda curious tho as to how hks did originally have the kit.

Yeah... Also did they make a specific IC piping kit, compressor inlet and DP for it? I can't imagine they would only sell the manifold and make the customer fabricate all this stuff like we do. I have searched everywhere and can't find any info on this manifold from HKS, and very few threads about it on the other websites.

PS Carl where did you get your HKS wg outlet flange from? I was able to find a HKS PN for it but it seems backordered from MFG everywhere I go. I'm having my fabricator just make me a custom flange.

Edit: check out this setup I saw on SAU:

Converting the low mount to a top mount. LOL?

Carl what do you have on the end of the hard line allowing you to run a stainless line from there to the turbo for the water lines. I've got to start find out all the thread pitches on my black and turbo to get lines ordered/made.

Water feed: m14x1.5Water drain: goes to hose fitting on back of block/intakeOil line: m12x1.25oil drain: 3/4 BSP port. Stock hose fitting there takes a 21mm hose IIRC

Hi CJ, what did you do for the oil drain? Do you have any better pictures & info on your compressor outlet adapter?

Yeah I thought that conversion was pretty strange.. There isn't really a thread about it, other than the guy was selling it and his mates were giving him a hard time LOL. IIRC he got it like that wherever it came from in japan.

Got my DP all cut yesterday and ready to be welded tomorrow... Just went with a screamer setup, hehe..

To answer my own question about the drains, from what I saw on some skyline sites, HKS usually includes a new drain pipe with their kits but it's nothing special. Looks similar to the stock drain, shortened, bead rolled end and they use a new hose...

you may want to recirc the wastegate...one is it not only obscenely loud but two you may have nasty spiking issues.with a 1 bar spring it would boost nearly 21psi on a cool night...having recirced the wg i have not had any spiking issues since.has to do with manifold design and the fact that the wg has to go up then back down, i suspect that it needs the 'venturi effect' that is generated when the tube is recirced to prevent it from spiking and get the exhaust gasses out of there asap.

Good to know guess I'll run it and see how it works. Right now I only have the 5psi spring in my WG anyway. It wouldn't be hard to modify the DP to recirc in the future if there are any problems. Hopefully have it all welded up tonight.

Did you make your own flange for the HKS WG outlet?

I agree with carl i would move the dump back into the exhaust it is way to loud for me, If i still have to car in winter im going to redo some of my stuff. What wastegate are you guys running. Im running 50mm hks with 10 psi spring with no boost spike issues.

Regarding the WG, the car will hopefully find it's way to a non-DD status and almost exclusive track & weekend car so the noise I'm not too concerned about... Spiking or other tuning issues because it's open dump I will evaluate when it's back on the ground again. Thanks for your input guys!

38mm Standard Gate

Got a good deal on it new/never used from a ebay guy, but unfortunately came with the 5psi spring. So I'll be buying a 10psi spring and ebc sometime soon. I had a hard time finding a flange for the output though, ended up just had my fabricator make one for me.

Mott what did you do for your turbo drain?

the stock drain bolted to my turbo so i just cut welded in the correct position and then i went to napa and got a thick multipurpose hose and i was good to go
