HKS cams are the best bang for the buck upgrade. If you want a better quality cam, most often lean towards the Tomei cams. I personally have 264 Step 2's In/Ex. The difference between step 1 and two is the lift. Step 2 or 3 requires the use of upgraded valve springs. As for which duration you would want, it all depends on your setup. If you only want a mild cam with little lope, use the 256. I hear they are a great street cam. If you do not mind a little bit of lopey idling, get the 264. The longer duration will take away some lower end torque, but better pull at the top end, so keep that in mind.

hks kicks ***. (at least thats what i hear) never really heard anything bad about them. i assume you have a pretty much stock sr which i would recomend the 256's. they will work pretty well with the stock turbo

Step one has less lift than step 2 or 3. Step 2's require upgraded valve springs, step 3 requires valve springs and solid lash. For 10.5mm lift, you'll need step 2's.

Tomei's are very good cams. Hands down without question. They just cost alot. Might want to hit up Nismo_Freak or Phase2 for those. Personally I've the step 1 HKS cams and they're very mild without causing your idle to go to garbage either. I am running 256in/264ex for my setup.

I drove an SR20 car w/ hks 256 in/ex and it was incredible. Definitely the better cam choice for the street where mileage, idle, and low-end power matter. Although, I haven't driven in anything with wild cams but dyno charts tell part of the story. Sometimes bigger cams add little or no power anywhere on a mild setup, also something to consider. ItzGenX probably has a pretty killer setup, SR22 in the sig., hence the hotter cams.

if ur sr is basically stock getting cams is a waste of money, for that price u can get better mods, like a bigger turbo,( used of course). a boost controller. bigger injectors.

U can get a set of brand new HKS cams for $400. And I would never buy a used turbo unless I personally knew what car it came off of and how many miles was put on it...

I think of it like this...cams are just another piece to my 375whp puzzle. With the cams, the puzzle is much easier to put together. Without them, it gets a little bit harder.
