hey i got some brand new stage three hks 264, 272 cams. both stage three, i was wondering whats the difference between all the stages? i cant really think of anything cause you can get 264 272 in stage 1, 2. Is it that you need to upgrade your head as you move up the stages? i already got bc springs and ti retainers and hks solid lifters. idk, someone teach me.

Typically the differene between S1's, S2's, and S3's is the amount of lift and the profile that ramps up to that lift.
HKS Step 1's 11.5mm lift
HKS Step 2's 12.0mm lift
HKS Step 3's 12.0mm lift
Looking at HKS's numbers, I would say Step 1's are for stock valvesprings, Step 2 is for aftermarket valvesprings, and Step 3 is for solid lifters.
You may want to talk to your engine builder about the BC Single springs, you want to make sure that the BC's have enough spring pressure to allow you to make the most of the cams and solid lifters.

ohh ok, that make sense, yeah i got single springs ( if its not enough, i can just buy the dual spring that goes inside the main spring seperatly right?, Acutally my set up is 264 (in) step 2 and 272 (ex) step 3, get all that hot air outta there. So your saying that every step your climb you have to upgrade? so from 2 to 3 you need springs + solid lifters right?

Not necessarily.
In HKS's case, the Step 3's are designed for solid lifters with dual valve springs.
Different manufacturers use different terms for Step 1, Step 2, etc etc.
