Tthis pissed me off so I figured I would vent it so others don't waste an hour and a half like I did. HKS cams must be installed AFTER you torque the head down. They don't have the little notches in the cam that the OEM cams do so you can slide a socket down onto the nut. Is that fairly common w/ aftermarket cams? Anyone have experience with Tomei or others?

never had a problem installing my tomei cams...not sure why you are having issues installing the cams without the head on, they go in the same regardless.

I installed them with the head off and when I went to install the head I couldn't get a socket past the camshaft to torque the head nuts because the cams are about 1/4" thicker in diameter than the stock ones. Therefore, I had to remove the camshafts, then torque the head down, then reinstall the camshafts.
