ok so i recently bought i hks ssqv from a friend and i swear its the quietest ssqv i've ever heard in my life. he says he bought it apart because he had to put the insert in, anybody know why it is soo quiet or how to make it louder. oh yeah its the stock silver insert. any ideas

ok another question. for the gold insert is it gonna sound like the silver insert just a different color or is it a loud blow off also

from what i know about SSQV bov, they are loud as hell and annoying. i have had 2. sounds like your might be hooked up wrong or broken. how much boosy are you running? about 6psi is when i have heard it being loud on my old rex

They'll be loud and annoying if you run them non-recirc.

Remove the fitting inside and see how it sounds if you're dead set on running atmospheric.

They are known to hold boost great and be responsive, which is why I bought it. If you don't like the sound, just recirc., which you should do anyways.

im running about 13psi. is the black rubber piece that says sequential bov suppose to move up and down for say i turn it upside down the black rubber piece will fall down to an extext and stop

I have the 2007 version and i have it recirculated, i swear its makes less noise than the stock unit

The SSQV BOV i've always found louder than any other on the market sounds almost like a bird call some times.. hear it from blocks aways check if it doesnt have the adjustable washer in it maybe the adjustments just different from what your friend had to what yours boosts out.. maybe its not opening fully due to the opening pressure
