Was reading post about s15 transmission (about it beeing weaker and all that) and then found a offer on HKS 6-speed transmission for s14. Is that hks transmission also weak? Anyone even ever seen one of these? It bolts to the s14 like original 5-speed?

I saw somewhere a kit, from HKS that converts the s13 5speed transmission to six speed. DOes anyone know how that works/if it works good...? thanks

now that u guys mention it it seems kind of cool the 6 speed convo but really do u need it nobody really daily drives in 5th gear on streets* unless yer racing its a diff story but yeh get yer self some good suspension instead

and the thing about s15 transmission being weak: the s15 transmission ahs weaker/smaller/thinner teeth on the gears so for drifters its kind of bad since drifting puts yer transmission through so much **** and the s14 has bigger gears due to its 5speed VS. 6 speed, it has more space for all that crap thats what i read so yeh

Having another gear does not mean you will not use it, nor does it mean the gear is taller then a s13 or s14 5th gear. One example is the JDM STI 6-speed. The sixth gear is 3.9? and the 5th gear on the USDM WRX is 4.44. I dont know about the USDM STI but the JDM STI will sacrafice some highway crusing ability to increase acceleration.

Eric

If you cant tell I was planning on getting a WRX =^)

I haven't seen proof of 6 speeds breaking. I just know the drifters swap out the trannies to a 5 speed because its less gears to drift with (they dont usually get to 6th). Plus the ratios are a little different, which would make a 3rd gear drift on a 5spd seem like a 4th gear drift on a 6spd.
