I feel like I just watched an advertisement for lifeproof mounts.

Anyway... you might want to pull that video down, seeing as how you essentially just self-incriminated yourself for driving felony speeds on a public road.

I was worried about that too but asked and he said:
"Need at eye witness to get a ticket."
How many people have gotten tickets or arrested by posting a speed video on youtube? You got me worried...

Are you sure there's a speed limiter on that car? I'm wondering if that was actually the car's top speed. I've bounced off a few speed limiters (on racetracks of course) but never in a Fusion. When one hits a speed limiter while under heavy acceleration, you usually feel it abruptly and the car typically slows down several mph, but that Fusion seemed pretty smooth when you topped it out.

^I've noticed GM's speed limiters are VERY smooth. I don't know if I've ever hit one in a ford.

The speed limiter in my 240 was downright violent. Glad I got that thing removed...

Old fuel-cutoff limiters were nasty. I'd imagine newer electronic throttle cars have a different limiter method, and probably one that's less...jarring. Considering how precise my LS's cruise control is (electronic throttle) I don't find it hard to believe the Fusion would top out so smoothly. Heck, it's probably the same throttlebody in both cars.

Had my foot in it and definitely hit the speed limiter, the car can definitely go faster but you can feel the fly-by-wire throttle start to close off at around 85mph and the power goes away, then stops giving it power at 115. I have gone over 170mph in my 240z with 450hp ka-t, and let off at 165 in my 1990 infiniti q45. i remember hitting the stock limiter on my s13 at 115mph and it was a fuel cut! the fusion is just smooth and boring.

My old Ranger had it's speed limiter at 92mph and i'm pretty sure it has a fuel cutoff one. It would usually buck a bit and slow down a couple of MPH, then it would get right back in it again. A proper OBD II tuner can remedy that issue though ;)

I never pushed it much further than that, but it had offroad tires on it too so I figured that was plenty dumb enough right there. A friend of mine claims he hit 125mph in it when he borrowed it one weekend

All of the 240s I have owned except two autos have had that wonderful limiter, which sucks..

Now in my girlfriends Hyundai I've yet to top it out mainly due to the type of car it is, heavy sedan much with an airbag in every corner and driving in Memphis traffic 90mph on the interstate is fastest I'm going, and my foot usually isn't far from the brake by then.

Now on the highway in mississppi which is straight and pretty dead I made 135 easy, however the car felt unstable enough and had more than proved it self to me, didn't act like it had a limiter either. The dash says 160 if it has one I'd say it would probably be like 145.

On the other hand I've read accounts of 150+ with mods on Hyundai forums so it might not have a speed limiter I just don't want to die or go to jail finding out

I could only do 125 in my 240, slightly downhill and it was auto, never hit the limiter.

A friends late 90s Mustang cutoff at like 112 even though it took a minute to get there.

Its not like the Fusion has mad power. I never really thought about it but it probly does have an easy going electronic speed limiter

My speed limiter got removed when I got it tuned.
I've only gone over 110 mph once to make sure it was really gone. :couch

my single cam s13 5-speed with automatic transmission hit 135 with headlights down, then maxed at 130 with them up :-/
Then after a stock ka24de swap and a top mount holset turbo at 14psi with custom tuned ecu ran out of gears; i hit 155 at redline climbing an incline on the highway with headlights up, lol what a difference 200 extra hp makes ;p

I did the same thing. After that, I realized I have no need to go that fast.

150ish in my old z just to see what she had it started to die out right around there but it felt like i was doing 85....thats when i figured out i probably didnt need to be going that fast if it felt that smooth.

The poor little single slammer in the 240 didnt like going over 80...

I've done the same thing in 2 different moving trucks, one was limited to 75, which worked out good because moving trucks don't have cruise control, so I just planted my foot on the pedal and let the electric throttle do the rest. The second one would thankfully hit 90 as the western half of texas on I-20 has 80 mph speed limits. I also scared the hell out of a friend that was asleep in the passenger seat when I finally found it, he nearly fell out of his seat when the truck abruptly started cutting fuel and lost 5 mph in about half a second. :chuckle:
