Hitting the redline

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I`m just wondering how many of you guys hit the REDLINE?

I own my EX35 AWD since Sept. 08 and I hit the redline 2x already and felt

bad about it. This was done on acceleration from stop. When I hit the

redline it kindda bump the limiter back and fort on the redline

You know, when the fuel is being cutoff (hunghunghung!!!)

This happens when I don`t feel that butt torque bec. the engine is too

smooth and bam! it hits the redline

I don`t really drive hard, and never really hit the limiter past 5K rpm 99%

of the time.

We`ll actually, I feel it first then look on the tach .

You`ll feel it first bec. the fuel delivery will cut off in less than a sec. and if

you`re still on the gas, the tach bump up and down around 7.5k-7.8 then

gets better when the rpm drops. I wish shift lights is mandatory in all cars

with manual transmission or auto manual. The problem with the EX35 is that it`s

so smooth and quiet that you don`t seems to feel you need to shift right

away. I`ve had HONDAS and Toyotas before and it was so easy to know

and feel when to shift without looking on the tach. You know what I mean?

REDLINE?? What REDLINE. Mine can go pass the redline 4X over. JK. LOL.

I hit the Redline once and it felt great going 90 MPH in like 9 seconds. Don't quote me on the time.

Then I blew my engine. JK. LOL.

I run mine to the redline ( but not the limiter ) almost every time I drive it.

Don't worry about it.

I strongly suggest you to blew your engine/transmission before the warranty expires or at least sell it before it happens hitting red line on an automatic transmission is Not "Dont worry about it" thing.

No no no you misunderstood..

Allow me to clarify, I shift around 7000-7300 just about every time I drive the vehicle... Not bounce it off the rev limiter....

Nissan set the rev limit at a point that protects the engine. Are you worried about pumping pressures inside the automatic? I think most automatics have a pressure regulator that handles this. So banging off the rev limiter is no big worry.
