So, I recently had a hitch installed on my Versa at Uhaul. The exhaust rubs against the hitch and makes a terrible noise. My mechanic took a look at it and says the hitch is not compatible with the car. It's one of these http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/N ... 2010200525 . Does anyone know of a different type of hitch that has been successfully used on a V w/o interfering with the exhaust??

help...

I think I may know what the problem may be. You may be able to adjust the driver side mount by loosening the nuts and sliding the hitch back away from the muffler. It may only require a fraction of an inch to correct the problem. It sounds like when they mounted your hitch, they put it to far forward to the part of the hitch that goes around the exhaust pipe is touching the actual muffler. You'll notice that the bolt holes on the driver side are slightly elongated so the hitch can be adjusted for/aft. You may also have to loosen the bolt on the passenger side to make the adjustment.
