Hi,I got my coupe 6 months ago , and I'm kinda new here. I just started getting into biking and am thinking if anyone can help me to answer some of the questions.

Does anyone here have one installed on their car?If you do, do u mind posting the pics when the rack is on n off.I would like to see how it looks like. I saw one member that has it on, but posted only 1 pic (I think his username is dpn).

I called the dealership earlier, and the guy told me that Altima Coupe w/ CVT transmission is not recommended for towing. With that being said, do u think it's going to effect the warranty if I install one for the bikes?

Note: I tried to google it and get some more info, and I ended up with some spec that mentions something about Altima Coupe towing capacity is 1000lbs. Is that right?

Thanks,

putt a bike on the back of your car wouldn't exactly be considered "towing"... it's not like you're trying to pull a boat behind you. carrying a bike rack + bikes shouldn't add more wight than just having extra passengers in your car or a lot of luggage.

And sorry but I don't know of anyone doing this except for 1 person a long time ago, might be the same guy you're talking about. how many bikes do you plan on carrying? you can fit 1 bike into the back with 1 seat folded down as long as you remove the front tire.

yea i doubt the added weight from the bikes would be considered 'towing' per se.

eventually when i buy a seadoo i will put a hitch on my car so i do know that the max towing capacity is 1000lbs and the max tongue weight is 100lbs (or 150 i forget). this is due to the multilink suspension in the rear which cannot support much weight during towing.

Welcome to the club Dtown!

I wouldnt suggest towing anything with the car unless you have to...

If it does cause any problems, its simple enough to take off the car before you bring it to the dealer though.

Welcome first off and when you say towing a bike, I'm assuming a pedal bike right? Because I tow my race bike (CBR1000RR in my sig) with my wife's Acura TL-S with no problems however, I would not even think of ever towing anything with my coupe. Its too damn smexy fo that

LOL...yup, it's a bicycle, not motorcycle...not planning on taking off the front wheel and trying to fit it into the trunk if it was a motorcycle

It's probably gonna be 2 bikes...and I agree that it's just like having an extra passenger in the car. I wouldn't try to fit it in the trunk tho, last time i tried to do that in my previous car, i scratch the leather seats. I'm hoping the guy who posted that pic awhile back is still around n can show some more pics of his car.

I know, the car is too nice to be used to tow. Thinking bout getting the bike rack that u can mount on the trunk, but i think it's too risky to put it on, it might damage the paint n leave marks. That would look a lot worse than a hitch

i wouldn't worry about the added weight, my parents have a prius with a hitch, we've done 3 people + 3 bikes on the rack to go to road rallies no problem. that's pretty close to the max weight the car can carry. kills the gas mileage, though (like 35mpg, lol).

surely the coupe can handle it.

Nissan wouldn't void your warranty for having a 300 pound passenger so I wouldn't worry about hauling two bicycles.

Of course you can tow just like with any other vehicle page 9-16 in your owner's manual..does anyone read their manual anymore?
