My experience with Hitachi is that they are a distributor and not necessarilly a manufacturer. So that TB from Hitachi could be made by just about anybody, most likely in China. And the fact that it costs half as much as everybody else's should give you pause. If you visit Rock Auto, there are 3 different TBs for your Altima. I might take a look at the $250 model from A-1 Cardone, becauses man, I can't bear the idea of paying Nissan $695 for a "genuine OEM" TB. Anybody else on this forum want to pipe up? This is really beyond my pay grade.

And, as a general rule, don't mess around with servo-type TB's. They are notoriously touchy.

what is servo type TB's?

What is shocking to me is that was the countless youtube clips and online forums...NOWHERE I read warned people not to mess with the butterfly in the TB. Had I known this I would have never touched it. The sad irony is that my car was running fine before I **ucked around with it and dug a deep hole for myself. It idled higher than normal..once in a blue moon...and even then, it never idled high enough to cause you grief. I so regret this...but again had there been a warning out there, I would have thought twice.

But again, I am really surprised that I am having an extremely difficult time getting responses from other Altima owners..starting from youtube and all the other Nissan forums...millions of Altima owners and I am waiting for days to get a heads up...not my week.

Interesting. I have an SR and cleaned the MAF and the throttle body same day. Using a microfiber cloth I removed the dirt build up, however, I did not mess with the valve itself. Now, my car runs just fine. Have you tried to re-learn the throttle body and ECU?
