Hit n' Run.... and I caught the S.O.B.!

So my car seems to be a magnet for cowardice bastards who like to leave me with small dents and not report it. I've had a total of three hit and runs with this car, in a matter of three years. Well, this last one didn't get away!!!!

I woke up this morning to find the front of my car was shifted about 16" to the right of where I had parked it. Upon further inspection, I noticed broken lense shrapnel strewn about the area and my bumper, fender, and grill were all nicley wrinkled up. Of course there was no note of apology or contact information. So, as usual I called the police.

Luckily the driveway is snowy and the tracks were still in tact. There was only one set of tracks OVER the ones that hit my car.... and guess what... it was the same vehicle!! The idiot not only left the scene of the accdent, but he came back and parked his car in the same spot he left from. He had a nice white streak of paint, across his red bumper, that he had (apparently) tried to cover up with dirty snow!

The officer got quie a laugh about the whole situation, but left it up to me to extract a confession out of my neighbor (the owner of the suspect red Olds Cutlas). The officer basically said to tell the guy if he admits to it, he won't cite him for leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report. The gentleman obviously confessed and has offered to pay the repairs in full..... oh wait till he gets the estimate!!!!:D

Why can't people just do things the right way. You hit somebody's car, take responsibility for it!!!!!

Yes... that's why I have insurance. Nobody is perfect... we all make mistakes... but the prudent thing to do is own up to your mistakes.

I am sorry you got hit man, that sucks. But you brightened 'sp?' up my day by catching him. I would of loved to see the look on his face. You need to take it to the most expensive body shop around. What color do you have, if its emerald blue "which I hope it is" the paint alone is close to 1k a gallon. Good luck my friend.

Hah... thanks fellas! Actually the paint is white/pearl.... not the MOST expensive out there, but a three step process non-the-less.My girlfriend's uncle owns a body shop, and I'm sure he'll have one estimate for me to give this guy, and then a bill for me for about half. So, I'll have a new front end, and some cash to play around with.

Take him to the cleaners for God's sake. Get at least enough money to repay the stress from the other hit and runs.Good luck, and don't quit until there's blood on your teeth!

Hope it works out well for you - There's a lesson to be learned here, and you hit the nail on the head: Don't be a weasel. Pay for the most insurance you can afford (even if it means you can't do a desperately-needed motor swap) and if you're unfortunate enough to make a mistake, fess up to it.
