My car reached a new milestone today. She was involved in her first hit and run yaaaaay! (yes my car is a girl, her name is Cece.)
In all seriousness, I was at a coffee shop in LA Koreatown and when I came out to leave, I saw that my car was half way into the next parking space with a big dent on the rear bumper. There's no witnesses and no CCTV so the LAPD officer said we probably won't catch the guy unless he/she turns themselves in, but at least the repair will be covered by the insurance.

That sucks. At least they didn't smash the tail light.

Sorry for your misfortune. That does suck! If you really wanted to, you might be able to find out what color & possibly the make of vehicle from paint scrapings. It looks like there might be enough paint on your car to determine the color of the one that hit her. I did that once & identified a car in my neighborhood. I matched the color. I would imagine there would have to be serious damage &/or bodily injury to justify the expense of paint analyzation to determine make. I'm old head & I remember when all vehicles had chrome bumpers & this type of collision often did little or no damage. I think that was the original purpose of a bumper. lol. Pontiac came out with body color hard rubber bumpers in the late '60's early '70's on their GTO's but for some reason they never caught on.

Unfortunately, they did get the tail light. The bottom left corner is shattered and theres a hairline crack going across the width of the tail light.
And this happened in the busy downtown LA, 15 miles from my home, so I doubt the paint is gonna help, unfortunately.
Thanks for your help though

A woman sideswiped my car and turned around and ran off! Did not get tag # and no one stopped as a witness. I got the car repaired, but I still had to pay the deductible.

update: they finished my car early and I picked it up this morning. I'll post pics tomorrow but basically I asked them to paint the new bumper all white not the oem white with black bottom.

She looks sweeter w/o the black! I have a hell of a time find parking spaces at work or the grocery store with ample space to discourage such occurrences. I HATE parking on the street!
But even at home it can be risky! My very sweet wonderful wife has learned that she needs to look back and double check things before backing out of the garage, since the day her X3 and my old Ranger pickup got better acquainted! Couldn't care less about the pickemups truck, and her taillight was only $100!

hahaha I know what you mean. But even when I parked in a private parking lot at work, my car managed to get hit by, what I presume is, a drunk customer. (I work at a kbbq restaurant) hahaha f*** you drunk drivers.

Looks good! What do you mean you had the bumper painted white but not the oem white? Does the color match well? Did you ask how far they blended the paint on the left side?

I meant they painted the bottom part where it's black on oem. The paint job was okay, people have pointed out it is noticeably different at certain angles and they said they blended all the way to the door, but I doubt it. I can see the difference on the quarter panel to the bumper
