My insurance company set the ACV at what I paid for the car minus depreciation minus deductible. I gave the adjustor all the documentation on the purchase & they depreciated it $.15 per mile to come up with a settlement value. It was within $200 of payoff. They ended up adding that to the settlement because they didn't want to wait on GAP to pay before they could get the title.

I talked to the Geico adjustor today a few more times with some questions. And I get the feeling that he's likely to total the car. I hope so. Doing depriciation at .15 a mile and based off what I paid, the repairs are over 75% of the value of the car.

I do not have the pics of mine, but i hit a tree when the axle fell. I tried everything to get it total lost but it did'nt work, it was only about $8000 in repairs. it looked a lot worse than ur btw. anyways, if you know an autoshop that you can take it to that charges insurrance some extra money and instead of factory hood gets you carbon, factory bumper, gets bodykit, etc etc.... i dont know here, but in venezuela if you know the autoshop they will do it for you. they are obviously making their money tho. I do not know anyone here that's why i couldnt do it

My first adjustor dissapeared and left a weird voicemail. A new adjustor was assigned and looked at my car already. I urged him to total it and he said "consider it done." So I'm just waiting on the finalization of that.

As much as I loved my black with beige interior, I think I'm gonna lean towards the magnetic gray. Black is too hard to keep clean. I had mine washed on Saturday, by Monday it was covered in pollen, by Tuesday it was covered in deer fur.

Anyone got opinions on the silver?

No place locally seems to have the magnetic gray with my options. Seems to be silver or black. And only black interior.

Getting a quote of $16,815 for Black SL HB w/ rear spoiler, convenience, ABS, aluminum kick plates, splash guards, and floor mats.

Too lazy to look up a "vomit" smilie but use your imagination (with apologies to any who might have bought one). I just didn't like it -- was my first choice when perusing on the web but dropped the idea when I saw it in person. But colour is a preference thing.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItemDoesn't have the ABS or spoiler but way cheaper than you've been looking at

Wow.

ABS is a must for me but that seems ridiculously cheap.

Edit:It includes the $1000 rebate. Mine doesn't, so I'm a bit closer to the price. Mine would be 15,815 after rebate, but I plan on 1.9% financincg.

Went with the dealership I previously bought from. Had them write up a loaner car in my contract, since most of the dealers around here dont do that. They are getting it from some place else, should I be worried about that? And they told me I can't combine the $500 collegfe grad rebate with the 1.9% financing.

It's Black/Black, spoiler, convenience, mats, abs, splash guards, kick plates.

Have you signed the papers yet?

Is that the only dealership around? I'd check elsewhere.

And I'd call directly to Nissan to find out about the grad discount thing -- sounds bogus to me. In Canada you can finance and get the discount. The US web site talks of restrictions but that's all:

$500 SignatureGRADUATE® Nissan Cash Back Qualified recent or soon-to-be graduates can receive $500 Nissan cash back on the purchase or lease of one of the following new 2008 vehicles: Rogue, Altima (excluding Hybrid and Altima Coupe), Xterra, Sentra, or Versa.

Nissan Cash back program period runs through 06/30/2008. $500.00 College Graduate Nissan Cash Back from Nissan when you purchase or lease select new Nissan and finance it through Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation or Nissan-Infiniti LT. You must have proof of graduation within 6 months (or past 2 years) from an accredited US two or four year university, college, graduate school or nursing school. You must be currently employed or have proof of a formal job offer. Restrictions apply. All NMAC consumer purchase and lease programs require credit application to, and approval by, NMAC as conditions for program enrollment and participation. The terms and conditions of the NMAC financing available to you may vary depending upon your credit history, income and other factors. Specifications are subject to change without notice. See your participating Nissan dealer for complete program details. link

Call (800) NISSAN-1 and ask directly; ask for the name of whom you are speaking with, write down time of call, then go to the dealership with the info.

Don't buy from the dealership if you are unsatisfied.

And if you've signed the papers already and the NissanUSA says the grad rebate applies ask for it from the dealership. If they don't/won't give it to you, pull out your cell phone right there and call Nissan . . . and see what happens!

I had to go 4 rounds with the manager of the dealership I bought V#2 at to get him to understand that, when I bought my car, both the rebate AND the special financing WERE allowed together. In that case, the NissanUSA website CLEARLY stated that both were allowed together. Yet he argued the point with me.

Some dealers will stop at nothing to try to make a few hundred extra bucks.

Had some other dealers confirm that I can't combine college grad rebate with financing. It seems odd to me, and I can't get answer from anyone from Nissan. Another place said they thought I could, but wasn't sure. How do these people not know for sure.

The one place that said they thought it was possible, I personally don't want to deal with, especially if they don't know for sure. I had an awful experience with their salesmen last time I wanted to purchase a car. Everyone I talked to then, was just horribly rude. And I couldn't get their prices down to a reasonable level back then.

I'm happy with my price either way, but I'm just frustrated that there isnt a consensus or anyway to get a solid answer short of buying a car from every place and seeing what happens. And the majority of the salespeople at the dealers dont even know the promotional periods.

Or don't care. As EV says, Some dealers will stop at nothing to try to make a few hundred extra bucks.

I'd call Nissan back and say "Your web site says that you offer $500. cash back to college grads, but say restrictions apply. What are the restrictions?"

Leave it at that, and if they say they don't know ask them to find out and call you back, as you are seriously thinking of buying a Nissan but want to know if you qualify. Let them tell you if you can combine or not. If they don't mention it, say "thank you" and repeat what they said [the restrictions are . . . ], get their name so you can quote them, and go back to your dealership with the info.

Good luck! The dealership I bought my V from was the first that I felt was half-way honest and decent to me -- and I did everything on-line and by phone. The dealership I walked into to talk with was pathetic (my story's around here somewhere) . . . and I don't think I'll ever buy face to face again.

Which is better than them knowing little to nothing about the cars that they "sell". While I was home visiting my parents last weekend who have been wanting to get rid of their old ford taurus I took my mom to the local Nissan dealership (Beaverton Nissan) to show her the Rogue. She's been wanting to get a fairly loaded Camry cause she likes all of that stuff, but the Rogue has just about all the same stuff for about 10k less.

Anyway, the first guy that we were with kept answering my mom's questions wrong as we were driving a Versa SL CVT. After I had to correct him 4 or 5 times he just stopped talking. When we got back and wanted to drive a Rogue instead of coming back with the keys, he came back with a new salesman who, as he said was the dealership's "Rogue Expert", but still had to poke around to know where anything was.

Needless to say, it was very embarrassing.

The only issue with that is when a dealer gets a car from another dealer the original dealer gets the holdback amount. Depending on the arrangement between the dealers, it could affect the bottom line of your deal by 2% to 3%.
