Hey guys. Last night I was driving home and 2 minutes from my house a deer came out of nowhere. I slammed my brake, but still hit the deer. Anyways, my car was actually pretty fortunate (deer was ok too), but my right headlight cover got smashed.

I called the infiniti dealer which is 2 1/2 hours away and they told me that I need to get a bodyshop estimate of the damage and then I need to most likely reorder the entire headlight unit. This seemed fishy because the light works fine, it's just the plastic cover that needs replaced. What should I do? Does anyone know where I can find this part? What should I do in the mean time if I have to drive? Tape the light with some kind of tape?

Assuming you have all of the pieces and it's just cracked, I would superglue it together until you get another headlight.

As far as I know, the assembly is sold in one piece. There are ways to pull it apart, but it's like having some Air Jordans and calling up Nike and asking for just a replacement sole. Won't happen!

Good analogy...haha

Ya, the housing is all one piece, and if you buy them through your olcal dealer you are going to be spending a lot of money. Check out riverside infiniti in california for pricing, or infiniti of peoria in arizona (www.infinitipartsonline.com) for pricing if you end up buying one. They have the best prices I've seen through dealers.

Thanks for the replies. I am having my local auto body take care of this. The entire housing will need to be replaced, but most likely my insurance company is going to take care of this for me free of charge without a raise in my premium.

SVT had a question about those deer whistlers. Maybe you should look into that thing.

I think it is a lot easier to put a big fart can on your G, it scares animals away like crazy

On a serious note, I feel it actually works, I've never hit an animal, but I came so close to hitting a wolf once, It was crazy, I could see him snarling at my car in the headlights!!!

If I didn't have that Nismo exhaust on my old altima, I'm sure he'd be toast

If you have an 03-05, upgrade to 06+ projector headlights...what year/model G do you have?

I've hit a few deer in my day...I truly loath that animal. October is the rut and they get really stupid. Drive safe!
