that's right, I bought the car on July 30th... have owned it 9 days, and have already put 1000 on it.

One thing I've noticed is that after I'm driving for a while and get out, my butt is not numb, which happened frequently while driving my wife's Tucson.

So that's a good thing.

did you get stuck in gridlock traffic? what's that like with the versa, is it easy to go through stop and go as say... a diesel? I assume with the versa's massive torque than horse, stop and go should be very easy.

I'm not a good person to ask about that because 1) I've never driven a diesel and 2) Gridlocked traffic annoys me equally regardless of transmission and 3) I carpool during rush hour, so there's less of it anyway.

at the rate you are driving at, in 2 and half years u will reach 100,000 kms the amount of kilometers a car driving for about 6 or 7 years should have.

I'm acutely aware of that.

My company pays for mileage that I drive on the clock... at the rate of 40.5 cents per mile. The gas itself costs about 12 cents per mile. The next reimbursement check I get (first one since buying the car) is going to be deposited in a new checking account that is specifically for gas and maintenance on this car.

Whatever I don't spend on gas is going to become my seed money for a new engine and major work like clutch and brake rotors. Yes, that's how far out I'm planning.

Thats great, keep us posted on when your car needs those things. I'd like to know how reliable those cars are. I'm seriously considering buying one.

So far, maintenance wise, only had to do an oil change. Mobil1 Synthetic + K&N filter. Next oil change comes up in 2,000 miles (using a 5k service interval instead of the 3k I'd be using with conventional oil and OEM filters)

Hey EV, you mentioned that you used a K&N filter.I saw something a while back about K&N oil filters being one step above a Fram. You may want to do a bit of research on that one.I'm sorry I can't remember the link, and my main PC is trashed due to a virus, so I guess it's google for you, eh?

Googled. Not replicated... most pages and surveys I've found said that K&N are good quality filters. I found one that said its anti-drainback valve may "age", indicating not good for long intervals between changes. I doubt that 5k will be a problem, though... There were plenty of other places that said 7500 was a more appropriate number for that filter and Mobil1 filters.
