Hissing noise from SMIC

Is there supposed to be a hissing from my SMIC under acceleration? I only here it when im at WOT. I tightened up all the hose clamps and everything.

If its loud enough for you to hear in the car while driving, theres something wrong. I'm going with a leaky intercooler, providing your clamps are in fact tight and not the problem.

it hisses also when i let go of the gas-kinda like a quiet BOV. after driving its actually not only at WOT. under about 50% it makes that hiss.

you might have a leak. maybe your gaskets on the intercooler is bad. does your car still run strong??

yeah...the car still hauls ***. this is my first SR so i cant really tell if its supposed to be faster. is there supposed to be any noise from the smic?

Are you sure its not the sound of your turbo spooling up? They make a hiss of sorts...

yeah im starting to think its that. i have an apexi intake and it sounds like its just breathing.....loudly. im on my recirc valve.

I got the Apexi. It is your turbo spooling. It sounds like a hiss/inhale. If you had a leak in your piping/intercooler you would notice when acellerating. You said it hauls so I doubt it. Do you have a boost gauge?

Maybe that's the sound of the wastegate starting to open?

i dont have a boost gauge yet but im positive it is the intake. Damn that thing is loud. ppl always ask me if something leaking when i fly by them on their passenger side. its great

I have a sound sort of like that. I just thought it was a super soft spring in the OEM bov or something. Can someone verify for me that the oem bov dosen't make a sound like the aftermarket ones? At least not as short/quick sound.

its most likely your intake. the recirc valve is hardly even audible.
