i have a 89 240sx with 148k miles on it, i was wondering what speed you guys crusie on while driving on the highway, i usually drive around 65-70mph, i'm afraid to cruise higher than that with my high mileage engine, am i being dumb? or could i cruise at higher speed? i'm just curious, thanks

I've got a 1990 fastback with 80K miles and I cruise between 85-95 usually.

As long as you maintain your motor accordingly, you should have no prob. cruising "sp?" around at speeds around 85 or lower. Any higher I think would cause alot of wear and tear to transmission since it is slow lowly geared.

slow down, guys- your car can handle alot more than is safe, and a speed that appears normal in the moment may be revealed as negligence in hindsight.

Sure, I cruised at 95 in my old corrolla wagon, and it held up without a hitch, but it wasn't safe, and I am glad that the accident that opened my eyes was on a back road doing 30 rather than on another doing 100.

Take it to the track; when you're on the road, just chill. Hell, put a decent system in your car for that purpose, just don't endanger other people's lives who aren't making the choice that you are.

Shouldn't be hard to do now... (j/k Fred).

I run 85-100 on the freeway and 10 mph over in town, except for residential areas. Phoenix is very conducuve to high-speed travel, one more reason I wish they'd implement vehicle inspections here.
