I'm still looking for my G35. Almost all of the ads I come across make sure they mention that the miles on the odometer are freeway or highway miles. Are highway miles some sort of marketing myth or are highway miles just miles and still depreciate the motor just as much. Would mostly urban city miles be more detrimental than suburban mileage?

Generally speaking, highway mileage can be better. The reasoning is that typical city driving involves a lot of stop and go, which is more harsh on the internals of a motor. However, it's not necessarily that simple as a lot of urban and even suburban areas are bound with much traffic and while travel distance is high for these drivers, stop and go traffic can still put the same strain or worse on the motor. A vehilce used for a lot of short trips is the worst as it doesn't give the engine oil enough time in the hotter temperatures in order to evaporate water out of the oil. In this case, they should show you records that they changed the oil more frequently than would normally be recommended by the manufacturer.

None of this of course speaks anything of the wear involved in the rest of the car. It's only onew aspect to think about and you should try and determine how the vehicle was used.
