Hey everyone new here but always skim the forums.

So I can't ever find my problem anywhere.

I have a '93 300zx NA auto that has high RPMs. From 40-80mph my RPMs will be at 2600 to 3100 as I gain my speed. Well in my head I think it should be lower or go into over driver if I'm staying at 3100rpms. I had my trans rebuild a few months back and if I recall correctly it was at about 2000 at 80mph but suddenly changed. I just have a problem with my trans not being put in right and being about 1/8 off. My flex plate got messed up and ripped into my rear main seal. So after getting that fix 2 weeks ago that surely wasn't any part of the problem. I do know I have a small vac leak and I'm doing my timing belt this weekend.

Only way I get my car to shift into OD is my getting my RPMs just before redline but by than I'm doing well over 100mph. Only thing I have done to the car was replace the stock filter with a new intiake and pipes. My vac lines I got are not great and I'm planning on fixing them ASAP but I still don't know if the leak would cause such a problem. Any ideas what could be doing this? Bad speed sensor, vac leaks?

Could be a solenoid or the valve body keeping it from upshifting. Transmission work and diagnosis is very specialized, and it's hard to tell what's going on without physically having the car. You can always do the basics like checking fluid level and condition, shifting manually to see if that makes a difference, etc. Have you checked the fluid?

There should be a warranty on the rebuilt transmission - can't you take it back to that shop?

Check the fluid when I first replaced it and about a month after. Was good but won't hurt to give it another look.
