Hey guys, I've recently been having some problems with my 92 Nissan 240sx, every now and again it doesn't want to start, this I believe is due to the starter, when I tap the starter a few times with the end of a wrench it fixes that issue. My other problem that I have no idea as to what is going on with it is that when I'm driving every now and again the engine will rev really high, if I let off the gas a bit sometimes it will catch and return to normal rpms for the gear and speed it's at.

I recently had the clutch replaced at a local Pep Boys. Other than that everything else is pretty much stock.

Anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this? Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds like the clutch is slipping. I know they just replaced it but that doesn't mean something can't still go wrong. Go back to Pep Boys and take a tech with you for a test drive and show them what it's doing. If you don't go back and get them to check when the clutch goes bad they will blame it on you for not returning to them.It sounds like the throw out bearing may be binding on the transmission collar.

well, your starter definitely needs replacing.
