High RPM shifts

1992 4WD Pathfinder 147K miles Auto V6

Situation:In 2WD, flat paved road, normal takeoff from stop

It shifts from 1st to 2nd at a reasonable RPM (around 2K), but from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to OD, it runs up to 3-3.5K before shifting.

If I really baby it and take off super slow, it will make the 2nd to 3rd shift around 2.5K.

I changed the fluid last week, but didn't see any difference.

Do I have a problem, or is this standard for a Pathfinder. (This is my first one, and I've only owned it less than a month)

I bought a 91 to beat around in the winter and it did the same thing. second to third would be at like 3.5 or 4k. had engine trouble so i havent looked into it yet, but I drove my buddys 04 and it shifted late too. not as bad as mine, but later than it should i think.
