Auto trans????94 Nissan Ext,Auto,4cyc.,2wd

Trans fluid indicates normal levels(dripstick)Interstate operation: to maintain 60mph. The "tach" is at 3500,4000.If there is NO incline it shifts to 5th gear,Then the"tach" returns to2500,3000rpm.

I've owned, 95 2wd man. trans for 12yrs. 1st time owning a hardbodyauto trans

Is this normal?

Thank you, For any input, thoughts or comments.

Sounds like your fluid is toast. It should be red.

My bag,It is red,I checked it again today. Would over filling the trans fluid causehigh rpm. Interstate (60 to 70) "Tached" at 3500 to 4000

Is there any logic (sensors) torque sensors, power converstion sensorsSomething eletrical that dictates trans high range?I'm use to my other hardbody(man.) At 70mph in 5th gear the tach is 2500 to 3000

My Question is: Can the high range "shift" auto trans w/overdrive be adjusted

Thank you for past and present comments.

Flat surface interstate, incline(hills) interstate, 4th gear mph:60 to 65 Tach:3500 to 4000Down hill "shifts" to 5th gear mph:65 to 70 Tach:2500 to 3400rpmI had this truck checked out by my mechanic (he's the top mechanic in this area)He said "The overdrive works, theres nothing wrong everything works".This man I've trusted for years with my other nissans.Never a misdiagnosis.

No hardbodies came with 5spd autos. You either have a 3spd or a 3spd with overdrive.

If this guy seriously believes the transmission in his hooptie is a 5sp auto, then he dosen't deserve it to run right, I am furious with this s***. His mechanic dosen't deserve to work anymore for telling him this misinformation. And if he i reading this, please sir, do yourself a favor and research your engine like a feind.

I'd count the number of times it shifts from a standing start to 65mph. That will tell you if it's shifting through all the gears. I will tell you that in my 5spd I am taching about 3-3500k in 5th at 70mph.

I'm sorry I was so brash. I didn't think you got the first message. Of course I want to help you out. If I had your transmission, I would rebuild it, crank the line pressure, and install a shift kit. Or I would just do an engine swap of some sort. Either one would work. I don't know terribly much about auto's, but I am learning because there are just so many out there. I really don't know what is causing your problem here.

I have the same problem with my hard body running high RPM's. i used to run about 2500 at 70 mph but after the mechanic changed out my master cylinder and and booster my brakes locked up ion the freeway and after i have it readjusted now my truck runs at 4000 rpm's at 70 mph and you can hear the truck running high. my cousin had the truck for years and it never had this problem.
