Hello I got a 1995 240 automatic as my first car. First gear got up to 5500-6000 rpm when I was seeing when it would shift if I almost floored it. It never shifted, but shifts out of first fine on a normal drive. I was just wondering if my little test hurt the engine, since it red lines at 6500? I let off right when it hit that 5500-6000, so it didn't stay in the high rpms for a long period of time. Thanks guys and sorry for the nooby questions, this is just bugging me.

Shift points will change with the speed of the engine. Your predetermined factory rev limiter will not permit the engine to over-rev, so you're okay (assuming you have an unmodified ECU). I would check, and/or replace the transmission fluid.

It shouldn't have done anything bad as long as it wasnt up in the revs for too long i used to beat the hell out of my first coupe with no problems just dont over do it
