It seems that after I drive the card hard for a while, with several accelerations in the 4~5 k RPM, the (Active) suspension feels smoother. Is this real; in other words, is there a technical explanation for this? Or is it me? Note: My Active is fully operational and with no leaks at all.Tks.

i'm not the expert, although i do also have an active active.i would say that if your main accumulator is flat, the pump has to work harder. following this logic, it may get sufficiently pressurised after pumping like crazy (high rpm). you could verify this by measuring wheel arch height sitting in your garage at (extended--time to stabilise) idle, and then hold constant 3000 rpm in park and see if the car raises.

more likely, i think the car just likes having the weeds blown out daily and rewards you with a more responsive drive--at least that what my subjective feel says when i drive hard.

CQ Jay, I did the test you suggested: Once in Park at idle, the car slowly drops. I let it running for a littley until it stabilized, then brought it up to 3k RPM and it slowly started to come up again. The final height difference between the two points was approximately 0.75 inches. Is this normal? Or is there a potential problem with the main accumulator you mentioned before?

Note: When I shut the car off, the rear end does raise

Tks!

Pacho-what is the service history on your car? if it's been more than 60k miles since accumulators installed (factory/warranty replacement/or recharged) i would say it's time for a recharge.

measure the wheel arch height at park idle and compare to fsm spec:

i would also suggest you call Keith Bowers (texasoil), as he is the active guru.

I just measured the height - it is 385mm (right on specs). The whole system was serviced by the dealer 17k miles ago. I am not sure if they recharged the accumulators or not. Is there a way to tell?Tks.

hmmm, i had an old thread which i can no longer find on active restoration.

if the dealer did anything on the accumulators, it should be in the service record. if your canisters have a fill valve (may be gooped up with a rubbery scab over the valve) then they have been recharged at some point.
