Who said KA is a truck motor with no hope for sustained high revs?I went to Memphis yesterday and came back on I-40. For 95 miles, I kept the motor between 3800 and 4900 RPMs. 49 is shutoff. When I got back to the exit, I stopped and checked oil, none gone. Motor never overheated, did not even smell hot. However, I found that my Falkens do not like hard driving--the interstate run was followed immediately by a 65 mile blitz on nice, smooth backroads. The tires put dust all over my fenders, and were scorching. They have little chunks gone.Is there a good way to remove the speed limiter without cutting any wires on the transmission? I can not pull away from all the bull**** cars (civics and cavaliers) easily with a shutoff. My speedo doesn't work (HUD) but it is about 120.

3800-4900 isn't high RPM.

Yeah, 4900 is only considered "high rpm driving" if you're a Mustang guy, lol.

That's your midrange.

Haha.

And 120mph is plenty fast enough, you're driving on highways not the salt flats.

ur tires are probably h rated. not meant for long periods of high speed. get some r or z rated.

Yes, you are right. But I am on a budget, and these Falkens were free.

But, here we can go as fast as traffic allows. I was following 2 new Impalas going to the Highway Patrol paint shop. They already had the antennas on, and everyone thought they were real police cars and moved over. Even officers that we met just waved at the front car. I think they thought I was the ride back from Nashville.

I am a Mustang guy. My next project is cramming the 347 in my 240. Forget about F-bodies and turbo Hondas; I will dominate! And, for a 4-cyl with 160,000 miles, 4900 is a hell of alot. The motor will not turn any faster in top gear. The effing computer sucks, but I don't have much more power anyways.

Way to get rid of speed limiter... get an automatic ECU... done.. that's all you have to do..

120mph is not fast enough for you?

I push it beyond that sometimes

6000rpm, 5th gear, sr20det

and it gets a bit scary, I don't think my vr rated tires are good enough for it

then dont do it....if they arent rated for it then they could just come apart from the forces on the tires at that speed. You wanna be going that fast and have a tire go down? If your gonna drive like that atleast make sure your car can do it

according to the tire rack there is no VR rating

R is for radial (at least im pretty sure it is) V is the rating, so you are good up untill 149...

my car does 6k almost daily and loves it haha. It is so hard for me to hold back on any drive, and not rev her up at least once. I let my stepbrother drive once, and he floored it in first, and promptly hit the limiter, which scared the crap out of me, I was yelling SHIFT!. He says that he wasnt used to going through revs that quick. 1st is really short in my car, and he owns a celica, so i guess that explains it all. I dont think high rpms really matter with the ka, because you shouldnt ever really hit 7k cause there is no power, but yeah, its a solid engine. But please, If you eliminate the limiter, do not try to drive somewhere at 7k at 130mph for a trip.
