i have a 2002 nissan pathfinder 4x4 se.
whenever i turn on the car it ildes at 2000 rpm { usually its around 750 } , after a while
it lowers to 1500 rpm and starts to stutter. the vehicle gave me a bunch of codes.

p1446 - rat ate a vacuum hose that is on top of the intake - fixed
p0122,p1705 - replaced tps sensor , not an issue anymore. no codes
p0452 - found a gas leak around the fuel filter - fixed. STILL GETTING THIS CODE AS PENDING

i keep getting a p0102 code.replaced air filter. I HAD REPLACED THE MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR on dec 2015{ WALKER PRODUCTS 2451132 } when i misdiagnosed another issue.
ive looked at the wiring around the mass airflow sensor and it seems to be fine, not sure how to test the wiring though.
what can i do now to find the issue ???

Have you verified that the MAF sensor is putting out the correct voltage? If you've already fixed one issue with rodents gnawing around in the engine compartment they might have damaged some of your wiring - perhaps from MAF to ECM.

i noticed that the fuel pump keeps cycling when i turn the car off, i think it keeps cycling until the battery dies.
i have to jump start the vehicle every day that im trying to fix the car .....
how can i tell its the fuel pump relay ??
i also noticed from the manual that both codes point to the engine ground thats right under the swirl control valve.
i cleaned the contacts to o avail.... ill try to connect them directly to the battery tommorow :wtf2:

turns out the fuel pump relay was bad, it kept the fuel pump from turning off. i still have the p0102 code.
still runs bad, cleaned and replaced the two ground screws , no difference.
i checked the wiring and as far as i can see there is no evidence of rat eating the wires.
i ordered a mass airflow sensor to see if its the issue.

i replaced the mass airflow sensor today, got good and bad news

good.. it idles regularly now at 750 rpm

bad... when i hit the throttle , at 1500 rpm it starts to stutter/hesitate
it levels itself out at 2000 rpm and revs fine, no codes

what do i look for now ??????/ :wtf2:

i went and changed the oil. now the vehicle idles fine and revs when i am parked. no codes
when i start driving though... the engine wont go past 1500 rpm and it starts to stutter/hesitate
i gave up.
well...
i decided to just take it to a mechanic.
the mechanic told me that its the transmission.
??? can a bad transmission cause these issues ??
or do i need a second opinion ???/

Even though you never get a code about the distributor, sounds like pretty much a dist problem. Why not to give a try?

What I experienced about it, I was driving on a highway, then suddenly vehicle started to shake very badly, no proper response to throttle but didn't die. I stopped to a gas station and never started again... Then I removed the distributor cap and sanded the rotor with a sanding paper, remounted the cap and bingo, the V6 fired up... But hesitation didn't go away. After I came home I took the distributor and what I found was broken rotor bearing and very bad rotor disc. In the country where I live its impossible to find a rotor disc but I fitted a 50 cent bearing and I still drive it with that. Starts and fires perfectly, revs up like a beast while stationary but..... Still hesitant (very few hesitant in comparison the day it went dead) in between 1500-2500 while driving... Next week I am flying to US and going to buy a brand new distributor and plug wiring. I will let you know what is going to happen.

If possible just try it with another distributor If you are able to borrow one.

i went ahead and did transmission electronics component check
{ using the O/D light to show error codes} http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/ ... off-light/
i eneded up with a long third {3rd light is long: throttle position sensor circuit} i did replace the tps [hitachi oem] ,so i no longer get a
obd2 code. my throttle body is mechanical. am i supposed to do a relearn procedure ??/
why is it still showing on the trans ??

i took the vehicle to the dealer { teddy nissan bronx ny } they ran a computer diagnostic and could not find nothing
wrong on that department/no codes. they mentioned nothing about the O/D code p1705.
they noticed some rat droppings and suggested that the rats ate some wiring , they also noticed that i
changed the original alt to battery wire with a fatter one/lower gauge {called it a power issue}.
told me the car was unrepairable, they also advised that i take it to a mechanic that can take their time and find
the broken wires {they would charge too much}. it was a waste of money , i think they were looking for any excuse not to work on my car,
they could not tell me what wires might be messed up if any.

while i was driving it home i noticed that the car ran PERFECTLY when it was cold { i usually wait for it to get warm before driving } . i also noticed that the stuttering happens around 1,500- 1,750 rpms when warm. if i go and do a nice accelerator press /rev while driving it runs fine, i just have to press the accelerator so that it does not land on the rpm stuttering range. I find that kinda weird, if its an electrical issue shouldn't it
be messed up all the time at all rpm ranges ????
