Alright, now that I have fixed the problem I was having with the low idle, I have another issue I am wondering about. This has happened since I got the car, and I haven't noticed it since I put the air intake on, but I figure I will go ahead and address it in case it happens again (haven't noticed it because I haven't really driven it much...) When my car is warm, and I am driving, sometimes when I press on the gas, the rpm's will go up, but the car won't accelerate quickly at all. It doesn't happen all the time, just if the car is warm and has been running for a bit, such as if I go to the mcdonalds drive through and sit there for a while. Doubt very seriously its the clutch...Any ideas?

there could be a hole somewhere between the TB and the MAS.

Well, since I changed out the air intake, if that was the problem then it should be fixed....I should find out tomorrow, hopefully that was the issue (or it was one that has been resolved with the addition of the air intake) thanks

Sounds like a transmission problem to me.

It would be a timing problem before a transmission issue...If it was transmission, it would be doing it more frequently, when it was cold and warm.

does it stall at idle sometimes, also does it sputter, and finally sometimes when you accelerate does it just kind of shudder back and forth and go very unwillingly? This is what mine does. And people tell me its my CPS

??? the engine rpm is rising... the engine working, something is not transfering power of the engine..Why do you doubt the clutch? its more likely then anything elsesince its the only part of your drive train that can partialy transfer power...

flywheel bolted to crank, so there will be no slipping there, its either attached or not. from flywheel is going to spin the clutch, were the pressure of the springs in side lock the pressure plate to the flywheel. Clutch turns input shaft of the trans which turns gears that are either meshed or not, wich turns outputshaft wich is splined to the driveshaft and again to the diff.

There aren't many places that can slip...You do mean that RPMS rise like the engine is accelerating normaly, but the car moves slowly right? and it is a 5speed?

It is still doing it, even with the intake. I doubt it is the transmission because it would be doing it more frequently than it is. Only time it does it is when I have been running the car for a while....Also, when it does it, it sounds more rough. It isn't stalling, jerking, or anything like that. I have no problems with the clutch, and it is a 5 speed. I will be at a stoplight, and go...With it in gear, it accelerates like usual, but no matter what gear I get in, after about 3500 rpm, the rpm goes up really quick, like I hit the clutch, but the car slowly accelerates....if I let off the gas, and very slowly give it gas, it will work right...Still sounds sick though...

my car does the same thing....sorta, with mine its only doing it when its warm, I've found that if i smash on the gas petal I get nothing but if i pump it it works just fine, I think it has to do with the throttle cable, I loosened it since I bought the car the guy had it tightened up as much as possible. so I think its just a bit of stretching going on, and it only does it when I just got done doing a few miles at a constant speed which is why I think its just a bit of stretching or something when I mess with the throttle in the engine bay it never does it.

dude its your clutch. when you car is running for a while your trans heats up too. if your rpm's rise smooth and you dont go anywhere you either dont have it in gear, or your clutch is slipping. and the reason why it only does it over a certain rpm is becuase of the torque put on it at those rpm's. but hey...dont listen to the many other people that said it too.

There is no doubt its your clutch. Just like what has previously been said, what else could spin? If you can be going 30 miles an hour in second at 6000 rpm there's only one thing that can cause that, either in neutral, or your clutch is bad, all those revs have to be going somwhere, and its probably toward the decimation of your clutch. BTW make sure you're not resting your foot on the clutch pedal. PS. I dont know what the hell I was talking about up there, wasnt thinking. I was just venting my frustration of my ****tily running car.

yes its your CLUTCH happened on my little civic too. (first car I learned how to drive standard) It would rise normally then just the RPM's will rise with no acceleration. Only did it when you stomped on the gas but while normal driving or sub par normal driving it never bothered me. And yes it only happened after I drove it for a bit.

Well, its not that it does it if it has been driving for a while. If I am driving down the road, taking a trip (couple of hours of straight driving even) it doesn't do it. Only if I sit somewhere, like a drive through, or traffic jam.

Anyway, I am gonna take it to a shop and get it properly checked out 100%

Anyone have a good recommendation for a good clutch change? Not doing the car for track performance, just street performance. I don't race, but I want to be able to move on the street if necessary
