*VIDEO POSTED BELOW*

Hey guys,

I've got a 1995 240SX with an S14 SR20DET in it. About 88,XXX KM's -- and as of late, there has been a rather high pitched whistle noise coming from the engine bay. Unfortunatly I cannot pin point the location of the sound, but hopefully you guys can give me a few things to check.

The noise only occurs when I'm idle, and only after (10 - 15 mins) a little bit of driving. The pitch does not change with the engine idle, it's just a constant noise. Imagine someone in a really high pitched voice going "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP" in your ear. This has become my life, I can make it go away by blipping my throttle, but aside from that I've done one thing to check on it:

I figure it might be a little bit of gas escaping the exhaust manifold (as I had pulled this out last summer) -- I pulled all my piping out today and tightened the hell out of the bolts on the manifold. Drove around, and the sound occured again - I'm thinking it might be the belts? It doesn't sound like squeaky belts though, or could it be a water pump :|

I'm stumped!

Check all your piping, it might be air leaking from some small gap.

And also check to see if your BOV isn't stuck open slightly.

Have you checked your turbo? Other than that start putting a big screwdriver on various parts of the engine and put your ear on the other end. You'll be able to hear it louder the closer you are to the noise.

the current location of my autozone cone air filter mated to the stock rubber piping to the turbo actually makes a bit of a whistle noise at idle. i mean i could be having the same problem as you and never know, but the whistle started with when i put the filter on.

Now with Video:

You guys can see that it's really quite annoyingly loud at idle, then when I blip the throttle, it goes away, once the engine settles the whine comes back.

Any other ideas on this?

(Piping is secure. I don't know how to check if my BOV is stuck open slightly, will google it now)
