High pitch squeal

hey all,towards the middle of winter, with consistent below freezing temps, i started to notice a high pitch squeal when i hit the 3500-4500 rpm range. my first thought was obviously check my belts, but they were all in order and looked fine. so i was wondering what you guys thought it could be. thanks.

You have to be a little more specific:

- Where did the squeel seem to be comming from? - Can you feel anything happenning while it's making the noise? - Does it sound electrical or does sound mechanical?

If you try to be more detailed it's more likely that someone here can help you out.

hmmm.. my sisters 240 squeals also. its like afer start up it squeals if you turn too many things on ( defrost front and back, inside light, headlights ).. and driving like 1st-2nd gear also. It sounds mechanical.

was wondering if it might be the same?

Well if it was the belts you would obviously know the squeal is unmistakenable. You ever seen a big *** POS rolling down the street screechin'? That is a belt.

But A different squeal is hard to decipher without knowing what specificaly it sounds like. And where the sound eminates from specifically also.

the sound comes from in front of the actual engine block i think, and around 3000 rpms you start to hear like a roar and then at 3500-4000 you hear just a screech, like i wanna say like metal rotating fast in metal, but kinda, and theres no vibration or performance hit when it happens, and it happens all the time. i dont know if its a lube issue or what.

Water pump bearings? Just a guess.
