high oil pressure

hey guys my car was just given back and now the oil pressure is really high. when the rpm's are at 7800 the oil gauge says its 97psi. the mechanic cant find out whats wrong with it. i have a s14 notch top motor black top. the mechaniz also says its prob the oil pump but if it was failing wouldnt that cause pressure to be low not high. anyways if anyone has had a problem like this please shed some light.

take your oil pump off and inside you should find a spring and eithe a ball bearing or a piston. this is the oil pressure relief valve. it limits your oil pressure(high) to a certain psi determined by the spring pressure. clean it up and see if that helps.
